So basically my XP is working fine but there a lot of problems with it.

1. My Direct X is fucked.
2. A lot of my desktop icons are fucked
3. I have so much shit on this drive that it would be easier to just wipe everything off than pick things out.
4. I'm just getting a lot of random problems which are pissing me off.

I got a DELL but didn't get the Media Center 2005 CD. I have the a legit key tho whch is on a sticker on my computer. So I don't have a DVD drive or any CD's to burn XP on and I guess Im gonna have to get a torrent to download it.

So is their a good step by step guide anyone can give me?

Thanks

Ha, Dell didnt give you your disk? Big suprise... Thats why i F'ing hate dell.

Ide call them and bitch at them about your disk. And if you just said you dont have a DVD drive then how will downloading a torrent help you, because you cant burn it to a disk.

I still say call dell and bitch.
Its not fair that they dont give you your disk. You bought Windows XP with your machine, and when you buy your key your allowed unlimited installations. Not just ONE that Dell installes for you with 50 different versions of shit software.

As far as I know, Dell ,and a lot of other pre built manufacturers will usually partition your drive.

And on the second partition is all the files needed to do a full reinstall.

A lot of times this second partition is hidden, so the regular user doesn't delete or corrupt these files.

But there may be restore icon on your desktop (If you didn't delete it allready).

But like it was already said, check with Dell, to be sure.

Hopefully everything is right there for you (but hidden).

Why would you need a DVD drive, since XP always comes on CD...?
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

First tier OEMs get Windows cheaper if they don't supply the user with CDs. They also get paid to put those shit programs on there, to negate the "cost" of buying a license of Windows for each computer.

You need a Dell Windows CD to use with that key. A Retail or System Builder (OEM) CD won't work.

Either torrent or pay $40 to get them shipped.

The thing, on the other hand, that is great about Dell, is that they include a program that allows you to make your own backup CD (ie boot OS) which then includes service packs, drivers and updates!
I reformatted an IBM computer yesterday, and it was a PAIN IN THE ASS! I had to get all of the drivers off of the internet on my own computer.
