Hi everyone, I have been playing bf2 for a while at an internet cafe and just now got my own computer. I played my first round today and anytime explosions happen or i drive anything the screen gets a little blurry. when i look around it seems like the pixels blend a little bit.  Jets bomb or artillery and it takes a few seconds to recover. I am not sure if this is my widescreen monitor, (i do have widescreen fixer installed and shortcut modified) graphics card, or do i need more RAM.
here are my specs:

pentium 4 3.06 ghz
1500 RAM
160 gb hard drive
ATI radeon 9550 x1050 256mb
lg 19" widescreen with 1440 x 900 resolution @60 hz 2ms
fatality sound card
motherboard is AGP i think its called Adex something like that.

I have read online that my graphics card should be able to support bf2 on medium settings, but im wondering if becuase of the resolution it cannot handle this.

can anyone help me with this, any video settings combination or..?
It plays alright with everything on low but i have seen plenty of users saying they play with this card on medium.
I am hoping i just need a new graphics card, if so does anyone know the best NVIDIA AGP card i can get? i know AGP is getting outdated is it worth changing to PCI?

Much thanks to anyone who can help me out

are you setting the game at your monitor's 1440 x 900 resolution?

If you are, try using a lower in game resolution setting, and yeah, getting caught in an artilley bombardment is going to cause a bit of lag on all but the best machines

bf2 does not support widescreen but i found a fix that supposedly works, i dont have any black lines and the soldiers look fine except when running they kind of slide.

Set your resolution Below 1024x768 sure its going to look a bit weird but It should help lower the lag.
Your video card is pretty outdated too, I recommend getting a 7800GS 256MB AGP since AGP is what you have.

I used to have a R9550. It played BF2 alright on version 1.0 at 800x600, low, x2 AA. These days in 1.41 where the framerate has been killed I doubt it's playable, especially at 1440x900.

you need to disable AA
