Fairly new computer
E6600
2 gig ddr2 ram
Nvidia 8800 GTS
Gigabyte motherboard

I just got a new canon printer, installed the drivers and rebooted only to have it just sit at the Gigabyte screen before it boots (I dunno what its called but it has <tab>: Post Screen <del>: Bios setup, ect....)

I can press what ever buttons I want though and it just sits there...

It actually froze on that screen a couple of days ago when rebooting, but then I cycled the power and it was fine so I kinda shrugged it off.

I did get one hell of a static shock off the case the other day, but it was on so I wouldn't think that would do anything? (this actually was the first reboot since then.

keyboard lights flash when I turn the power on, all fans and lights working normally.

Parallel printers were notorious for stopping computers from booting, not so common with USB but it still happens. Unplug the printer.

Hit Tab and see how far the screen gets.

Or does this mean Tab does nothing?

Static shocks off the case shouldn't do much, the case is ground/earth to a computer. Just be lucky you don't have to unpack the bastard when it comes from China.

yeah tab key don't do shit. I can press what ever and nothing does anything.

I figured the static shock wouldn't do anything but figured I would throw it out there in case. Fortunately I just found out my new roommate is a computer science major, so I'm hoping he can help me out.

But any help you guys could offer would be nice, If I don't have to bug him with it I would rather fix it on my own.

can you boot into safe mode and remove the printer drivers?

hit f8 when comp first starts up... and choose safe mode without networking...

then uninstall printer drivers and have printer unplugged...

do u have an air compressor? if u do u should dust out the comp incase thats the prob and then unplug  everything from it and leave it alone for a good hour or 2 and come back to it
