Would you like a black president?...What is the benefit of having a black president? Or a white president?
Only if he can rap. And has a pimped out ride.
But seriously, I think a competent president would be a much better place to start.

this is a stupid question. Obama is not the first black Presidential candidate. The only reason why he's getting so much press is because Alan Keyes was a Republican ((gasp!!))
It's the media's love for liberals that is an issue here. No one wants to admit that the Republicans have appointed more black people to the supreme court than Democrats, that the republicans had the first black female secretary of state...you get the picture.
The media is perpetuating this idea that republicans are racists. However, the Democrats are historically the party run by the white male.
this poll is BS.

I hope nobody would care either way.

You don't have to be american to be interested in politics though, and these elections are so hyped they get broadcasted nearly everywhere over europe & australia. other than that I think for most this is just a null vote anyway.G3|Genius wrote:

That's true, which is why I did not address you. I just think it's curious that someone half a world away can say that our current president is incompetent when that person knows absolutely nothing about it except what media he has been subjected to.dayarath wrote:

I personally do not think Bush is at all incompetent. No more incompetent than his predecessor..
What???G3|Genius wrote:

Obama is getting so much press because he can actually fucking win the presidency. You're saying the media is liberal biased because they're giving more airtime to someone who's leading in the polls opposed to someone who has no chance of winning?
Jesus christ.
I'm assuming by "historically" you mean back during the reconstruction era? You are aware of the fact that neither the current Democrat of Republican party have any connection whatsoever to do with the old parties of the same name, right? The media is perpetuating this idea that republicans are racists. However, the Democrats are historically the party run by the white male.
I may be well off base, but it seems that TV and Hollywood features have gradually lowered the barrier for the American people to elect a president who is something else than a white male. E.g. "24". I definitely don't see it as a bad thing.
However, people should always vote for who in their opinion is the best person for the job, and not have "because he's black" as their motive for either voting or not voting.
When we elected our current president for her first 6 years, I think many people voted for her "because she's a woman". This time the "because he's black" argument might just get Obama a victory. Not that I mind, he's my favorite among the Dem candidates.

I need around tree fiddy.
yes, because I suspect the rest of the world will have a different view of America if our leader was black, and especially because his father is from Kenya.
There are also people who vote purely on religious beliefs. Thats why Huckabees doing so well, too. Reps would rather have a die hard Chirstian than a mormon or a former mayor from New York city.DonFck wrote:

no, I said that he's getting much more press than Alan Keyes did because he's a democrat, and Keyes was a republican.Spearhead wrote:

yes I'm aware of that, I'm not a dope. Furthermore, you did not argue my statement because you know it's true. Conservatives are labeled as racists. Liberals are labeled as compassionate. I argue that the media has successfully perpetuated this label even though during the last two decades the opposite has been true.I'm assuming by "historically" you mean back during the reconstruction era? You are aware of the fact that neither the current Democrat of Republican party have any connection whatsoever to do with the old parties of the same name, right?
You just don't want to look at recent history because you know it's true. The first hispanic Attorney General: Gonzalez. the list goes on and on. Liberals are way behind the 8 ball, and the only reason people don't realize this is because the media has a vested interest in perpetuating that.
We DON'T need a president with the name OBAMA !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not very American.............

why not
I don't think the color of someones skin matters in the least, and it should not be used as a political tool. If Obama has some good ideas to turn this country around then I welcome him as President.
