Yea, like looking at women..lol. Not all of us have time to waste driving to the gym. I can hit all the muscles I want and get the results I desire at home with dumbbells and a good bench. Most people just don't know all the available exercises. A monthly membership fee isn't required to get what you want (Unless you are looking to compete). Of course some people have to get out and in a gym to motivate themselves also. Convenience works better for me. It took me about ten years of working out at a gym to realize this..
Can't do squats with dumbells.

Oh, and you should be jogging to the gym, or biking.
Yeah true it isnt the most convinient thing, but i guess at my age it doesnt really matter. (I am 15)

Oh and @ ajax,
do cardio after you workout
burns a lot more calories.

I hope you are joking, of course you can. However, dead lifts and lunges will target similar muscles without screwing up your spine. Have you ever heard of spinal compression? Squats are good if you are looking for mass, but your body will pay for it over time.

I don't have the time to jog or bike 20 miles back and forth to my gym everyday. Not to mention draining my stamina before I lift the first piece of equipment is a pretty silly notion. We must have different workout intensities.

btw, dumbbells + lunges = ultimate quad/calf win.

I would say get some push-up bars five pounds from Argos I know your from Texas so its not applicable but they are cheap and good. You can help target your triceps or pectorials by adjusting the width. Also pull bars are great very easy to install cheap overhand and underhand are really good plus you can do leg raises to work your lower abs.

Hm, I believe you can do that with regular pushups, by simply moving your hands apart?  lol.

And you can't do knuckle pushups with those now, can you?

So... I've been working out a little bit lately (Without weights because I can't afford them) and I do like push-ups in reps of 35-40. What other things would help build muscles? I haven't really done any sit-ups or anything.
I tried everything, the gym, a personal trailer, brought the crap on TV, none of it really work, usually got bored. The only thing that really work for me was joining a local karate club. Its a great work out, a good time and the bonus is you get to learn how to defend yourself. Its a great physical work out as well as a mental work out. Give it a try.

Cycle, 50+ miles a week for a few months.

THEN you'll see fitness. Or you'll die of a heart attack. Or choke trying to take enough calories in to support the regime.

I've been told it helps isolate the muscles alot more because of the way your grip them.

exactly right, but if you have dumbells, you can just use those by putting them on the ground and using them. It works all the muscles, even the tiniest, because you have to rely on all your muscles for balance, and so it helps you engage more muscles.

Lats are actually the upper back, not the lower back.

Dumbells, a bench, and good running shoes. That's really all you need.

As stated before, dumbell lunges are the shit when it comes to lower body workouts. Very similar to a core stability workout for the upper body, as they require you to use all your stabilizer muscles in your hips and legs as well as your quads, glutes, hams, and calves.

Run three days, lift three days, take one day off. Alternate running and strength training days. Shoot for ~30-45 minutes of running (as you get more fit, you'll get more mileage into each workout). Shoot for 45-60 min on the weights. Keep up the pace so you get a bit of a cardio workout at the same time.

There is a book called "Body for Life". Get it, read it, and do what it says. It will make a huge difference.

If you cycle right, you won't get that issue. Stand up on the pedals and it cuts down the friction to almost nothing.

One of the weakest routines I've seen together.  And LOL at 50 reps with no sets.  I would love to watch you do 50 proper presses in a row with 180 pounds.

I warm up usually with 2 plates. Can't equal that with dumbells. I never felt anything from doing doing lunges or deadlifts. Sure they weren't easy but after I did them I never felt anything. The burn lets you know when it working.

As far as spinal compression, I'm sure I'll be fine.

It really isolates your body.
