I try logging into BF2 and I get an error that says "There was an Error checking for a completed connection".

Ive never had this problem, and I searched the boards but nothing came up so does anyone know whats going on?  I updated punkbuster, cleaned out my server list/cache, a relative who is going through the router has no problem connecting, or playing.

What have you changed since the last time you could log on?

Reformat/Reinstall will probably solve it, or just try shutting off all your firewalls to see if it works.

I haven't changed a thing, I am NOT going to reformat my hard-drive just for a game thats just dumb, I disabled Windows Firewall; still have the problem, I deleted BF2 off of the Windows Firewall exceptions list and added it back; still have the problem, I know for a fact that it's not my router because a relative is going through the same router and he can log-in and play without any problems, I uninstalled-reinstalled punkbuster AND BF2 w/ patch, I've deleted my profiles so when I tried to retrieve my account; the same "There was an Error checking for a completed connection" Message Box came up, I can't connect to EA's Account Server, but my nephew can?

We both have the same OS; XP SP2

I just thought of something.
Why is it dumb? I reformat every two months or so for no reason other than to clean up.

Good luck in finding your problem, but a reformat is the way I'd go.
