He is gaining a lot of altitude in that video. Isn't there a point where it isn't considered a Cobra anymore?NantanCochise wrote:

True. Maneuvers are usually specific to the aircraft that first performed them. i.e. the Mongoose Maneuver for the X-31, the F-16 VISTA avoidance maneuver and of course the Su-27 Pugachev Cobra. Aerobatic Fighter Pilots usually stick to their styles for fear of being rip-offs. But never-the-less there are some videos showing an F-22 doing a very similar maneuver to the P Cobra. What the F-22 excells at is the fact that it can hold a stall maneuver for a lot longer than any Su aircraft.nukchebi0 wrote:

The coolest single move I ever saw was performed by, of all things, an A-10 Warthog... It was at an airshow. I have no idea how "real" (as in trained? planned? are they supposed to do that?) the move is, but saw it myself and still couldn't believe it...
The A-10 was moving very slowly, then accelerated hard, though not to a very high speed, cut the engines, fired the main gun (Vulcan cannon if memory serves? Been too long and too late to look stuff up) and spun the plane 180 degrees in a flat spin (yaw? Z axis? lol I am sleepy) then fired the cannon again in the direction that would have been directly behind it, spun back to facing the original direction, and then punched it and accelerated away...
It was VERY cool looking...

The cannon is a GAU-8 Eliminator. He probably spun on the Z-axis.HITNRUNXX wrote:

Nantan, thanks for the clarification.
F22 Raptor is known for its Stealth, Maneuverability and its ability to Supercruise, any other fighter in the world won't know they are being attacked until they see (radar) that they are being fired at (missles) by a Raptor some few miles away , the maneuvers you see on youtube are pretty much useless against a Raptor. Attack, Interceptors, Fighter Jets (the F22 can play all rolls btw) doing aerobatics are simply for entertainment; nowadays anyway.
You couldnt be more correct.BruceLeet wrote:
