preschool
kindergarten (technically part of elementary school)
grade 1-5 (elementary school)
grade 6-8 (middle school)
grade 9-12 (high school)

are all of those different stages in different buildings, or do they share?

Everything up to Year 6 is in a Primary School, Everything from 7 to 13 is in a Secondary School unless you go elsewhere for  6th form (A LEvels, Y12/13)

Years 1-6 will be in same building, and Years 7-11 will be in same buiding, as seperate schools. A Level year may or may not, depending on if the secondary school has a Sixth Form, if not, then you go to college or another Sixth Form.

i got study leave this afternoon but had to stay in 6th form for something else so i spent 3 hours playing blackjack/go fish/21 with a couple of friends, and an educational experience was had by none.

ig, its  It goes

primary school up to 4-11 up to year 6 generally as the first year isn't normally counted that way and just called something like reception, high school is 12-16 You do sats in year nine then your GCSE's ( General Certificate of Secondary Education) in years 10 and 11 (15-16). Then you can either not go to any further education and just get a job/be a hobo, or you could go to 6th form or a college. In 6th form or college you take whatever subject/subjects you wish. In colleges you generally just take one subject and do a more practical based course ( a BTEC generally) for 2 years. In 6th form most people take 4 subjects in the first year (year 12, though its generally just called the AS year as thats the qualification you get from it if you pass, though the AS is worthless really) In the next year you generally drop one subject and just do three, you take A level exams and if you pass you get a A level qualification. A pass is generally anything between an A and an E whilst a fail is a U, an E is generally worth around 40% of the possible marks in an exam.

6th forms tend to be more academically based whilst college's are more practical skill based.

From a 6th form you can go to a uni if you get enough passes (some require a set number of passes for entry, some use a points based system thats to complicated to go into now).

Hopefully i cleared that up for you though someone's probably done it better already when i post this.

Edit: i was right. Bollocks!
