My laptop is fried, so I'm in the market for a new one

I had a pavilion zd7000 which I bought for $500 last year about this time and just last week it fried on me, I took it to a local computer repair and they said the motherboard is fried damn
heres the pavilion

I've been looking through best buy (I'm shoppping with them bc I have $300 worth of gift cards to best buy) and this the best I can come with

I'm not looking to pour in a lot of money, its mostly for my wife to use ie internet, music, writing reports

I bought an extended warrenty for the zd7000 for a $100 last night so I'll send the zd7000 back to get fixed or replaced, then I'll sell it off

Put the old motherboard in your microwave and see what happens, lol. I don't really like laptops, the keys always suck and they are in different spots and it's a lot smaller. Also, it seems everyone on bf2s got best buy gift cards for Christmas, .... ....I didn't.....

Well, I'd go for a Turion CPU over an Athlon for that kind of usage, it'll save you a lot of battery time.

The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP
