Sigh. Once again, you put an SEC team in the National Championship game and they win. Of course, that doesn't surprise me. Most years, the SEC is the strongest football conference in the NCAA, and the best team emerging from the SEC gauntlet (assuming of course that they haven't had too many injuries from the brutal competition) can usually best any other team in the nation.

So, you want a playoff system for Division I? Would it trouble you if an SEC team wins year ... after year ... after year ... after year?

At least now, there are years when fans from other conferences get to imagine that they are national champions when the pollsters won't allow an SEC powerhouse to be in the National Championship game.

Automatic? Yea ... it is sort of like the UN Security Council's permanent member seats. You wouldn't have the BCS without the SEC.

I said that arrogance=SEC, which is true for many fans, not necessarily you, who think that the conference is the only good one. exactly. football is football. people are going to win; people are going to lose. the fact of the matter is that the sec is the toughest conference week in and week out. i'm not saying that nobody has a chance to beat an sec team because that is definitely not the case, but for someone to believe that they are not the conference to beat just tells me that they are slightly ignorant. look at the stats. if you're not a stats guy, go back and watch some sec vs sec games from this past season. i guarantee you that they are much more intense than any other inter-conference matchup. if that's not for you, go watch espn, or go to espn.com, and read some of the stories there. how much more evidence do you doubters need?

You got to face an Ohio State team with a mediocre quarterback, a thin interior DL, a questionable OL and you got them at home.

Missouri destroyed the same Arkansas team that beat you. Kentucky, who also beat you, won their bowl by one score against a Florida STate team that left 28 (that's right 28) two-deep players at home.

The SEC is good. It may be the best conference in the country. Don't get carried away though. There isn't a team in the SEC that would have stayed within 14 points of either USC or Texas of 2005. You aren't all-dominant and all-winning. You're a damned good conference with 4 to 5 powerful teams a year, nothing more.
