Well, there's been an outbreak in Northern Ireland and my dad has it - so I don't want to take any chances and of course am doing thorough hand washing constantly and I don't fancy the sounds of it!

Anyone any experience with it and any useful info they can give me? Thanks..

Never heard of it, sorry. What does this virus do anyway? I'm curious.

From the CDC:

CDC wrote:

Noroviruses (genus Norovirus, family Caliciviridae) are a group of related, single-stranded RNA, nonenveloped viruses that cause acute gastroenteritis in humans. Norovirus was recently approved as the official genus name for the group of viruses provisionally described as “Norwalk-like viruses” (NLV).

It gives food poisoning like symptoms and should pass after a few days. Tell your dad NOT TO GO OUT for up to 2 days after he recovers, he can use it as an excuse to take more time off work if need be. This is because the bugger stays infectious and contagious several days after the host has recovered.
