Just take the guts out of a standard issue M14 and drop them into this system and BAM!

The M14 fires a 7.62x51mm cartridge(Bigger than AK round.) in semi-automatic and fully automatic modes.

Well the US Army are reissuing M14s and droping them into similar systems.

was this on ultimate weapons? They made an M14 replacement that had a bigger round like an Ak-47 (or bigger) but kept the accuracy of the M-14...

Looks like that thing would kick like a bitch.  (Large round, and it doesn't look like the gun weighs that much)

Check the link and read the info.  Recoil wasn't an issue.

Felt recoil was notably less than we are used to on a standard configuration M14/M1As.

looks a little too big to be a multi purpose rifle.  urban environments require short barrels/stocks.  I rather have an M4 for MOUT.  M14 is a great weapon, dont get me wrong.   But, Id rather have it for open terrain instead of built up areas.

The M14 fires the same size round as the AK 47 just has a longer cartridge.(7.62x51mm)  Basicly it fires the same exact round as the M1 grande.  I so what the CQC version with a shorten barrel.

gas piston operation (ala HK417) - rather than straight-gas like M4/M16.
(in my opinion, the new HK417 style gas piston AR-15's take all the best features of the M14 & M4/M16/AR-15 series - and cut out all the weaknesses of both)

7.62x51mm NATO caliber

14.5" barrel shown above (for MOUT), 24" barrel version below (with magpul stock, same as the Fulton M14)

BTW
M14 (7.62x51mm) fires a 168 grain bullet at 2750 feet per second - AK-47 (7.62x39mm) fires a 120 grain bullet at 2250 feet/second..  NATO 7.62x51mm has a bit more ouchy to it.  Around 150% of the kinetic energy of an AK-47 round.
Thats fine and all but what I posted is a conversion kit.  Basicly for around $1200 you get a kit that takes the guts out of the M14 stock and you drop them in this system.  It allows you to put different sights and stuff on the weapon which the stock M14 would not allow.

Yeah put FPS determines penetration, the faster the bullet goes the more things it goes through. The width of the bullet determines the stopping power, how much damage it does against an unarmored target (such as most insurgents). The AK's round goes slow so it gets stuck in and really brings on the pain, the M14's round will often go through a person. When a bullet goes through a person it wastes vast amounts of force, causing less damage, that and the fact that having a bullet in ya' really fucks you up. The M16's round, the 5.56x45 is designed to penetrate body armor but not go through the person, even though it does penetrate through unarmored targets often enough.

For the Marines the M14 is the DMR(Designated Marksman Rifle) so I presume thats what this would be used 4
