What im trying to do,

run both 5.1 sound speakers & a USB mono headset with MIC.

Issues so far, I can hear music threw speakers, and I can head AIM sounds in head set.

Then all of a sudden the sound from speakers stops working and switches to head set.

I have tried forcing either 5.1 audio and Headset in the audio and devices properties with no luck any ideas

Why the hell have a USB mono headset? Why not spend $10 on a headset that goes into the soundcard, and is stereo?

The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP
