The Business & Technology Education Council (BTEC) was a subdegree-conferring council in the United Kingdom until 1996, when its functions were transferred to Edexcel. The council offered further and higher education awards, particularly to polytechnics, and in particular the BTEC Nationals and BTEC Higher Nationals awards which remain prominent. It is not to be confused with BTech.

BTEC qualifications are undertaken in vocational subjects ranging from Business to Animal Care. They have an equivalence to other qualifications such as the GCSE and the A Level but a particular difference is that they tend to be based on practical work or coursework rather than timed examinations.

Nope if anything tis the A lvl > BTEC as the btecs are more practicle skill based leaving you with a good qualification but only for that subject whilst A lvl's are generally more academically based and it tends to be easier to get into a uni with A lvl's and easier into jobs with a BTEC. To be honest though its more of a to each their own thing as most people with BTEC's have set their mind on a particular profession whilst A lvl's are alot more general with what they can get the owner into.

Hopefully i've not just tied up peoples minds here.

Oh wait it's coming back to me, I should do a maths problem relevant to my actual age as the answer to keep your brain active. Hmmm...

AS Levels = 1st year of 'advanced subsidiary' study.
A2 Levels = 2nd year of 'advanced subsidiary' study.

A-Levels (i.e. a completed 2-year course) are the 'normal' qualifications for gaining entry into University in the UK. Normally Universities will ask for 3-4 A-Levels as a conditional offer.

BTEC is just a form of diploma which is the equivalent of several A-Levels, only in one more 'intense' and specialized field- e.g ICT.

By the way... what module is the 60% of AS Law grade? Been a while now, but I can help out if you need .

Not today sunshine.

The standard education that is your high school equivalent is only 11 years. Up to year 11.

These guys are on about higher education.

Go England.
