The people that lived 17 feet below sea level that didnt wan't to believe that a hurricane could flood where they lived were foolish(i'm not saying they deserved to have their houses destroyed or lives up ended) They had 4 days notice to leave... Mayor Nagan is a stain and he did little to nothing other than get his own ass out of Louisiana... Then after the Hurricane donations poured in... what did people do... they shot at rescue vehicles... shot at each other and spent there cash cards on liquor and lap dances...(not all but enough) Like i said before...We have fires in the US... floods... tornados... and I haven't heard of any quadgillion dollar lawsuits...
The people that are suing are sad...ignorant folks...they see this as a payday and they are egged on by greedy lawyers who fill their heads with these wild schemes... I give cash to homeless dudes in DC when i'm down there and i bring jackets and shoes that are still in great shape to them... so i'm not completely insensitive to people that are having problems... It's just this free ride mentality that sucks...
If the people that were affected by Katrina all got together and had a plan on building modest replacement homes away from possible future flooding... I bet that they would get a lot more of a positive response... The lawsuit lottery is lame...

I am up to my gills with 3 year old Katrina victims, anyone that had anything to begin with has long moved on. It is only the leeches that are sucking this govt. tit.

You aren't looking in the correct places, then. Remember, all those people are VOTERS. Which political party is the one that preaches entitlement and benifits?CameronPoe wrote:

Bull. After a point, it ceases being "sharing" (which, unless you're talking about Red Cross donations or something similar and NOT tax money, isn't even really the proper term because sharing implies a voluntary action) and becomes "enabling." "Benevolent giving" to people who refuse to help themselves after two and a half years is NOT a "good deed." It's like giving money to a compulsive gambler, hoping this time he'll use it to get a nice suit and look for a job.CameronPoe wrote:
All I'm talking about is sharing, like any good Christian, I'm not talking about whether the recipient earns it or not. Any form of benevolent giving is a good deed.
Cut them off already.
Some people were and are being royally screwed. Not all of the current victims are leeches. Unfortunately, enough are leeches to waste away any remaining sympathy by the general public.
I don't know any political party that is preaching entitlement and benefits to those not even attempting to acquire gainful employment...imortal wrote:

"An Ohio man has been arrested for allegedly filing more than 100 false voter registrations in exchange for crack cocaine from a woman working on behalf of the NAACP's voter registration drive. In case you needed reminding, Ohio (along with Florida) is one of the most important battleground states in the election.
Toledo police searched the home of Georgianne Pitts, the woman working for the NAACP, and found more voter registration forms. She admitted to paying the man crack for his services, and says she was hired by the NAACP, which of course denies any charge of voter fraud. Yeah right...dry that one out and you could fertilize the lawn. The fact of the matter is most polling places don't require identification to be able to vote, so there is nothing stopping people from voting at more than one polling place.
Just as in the past, the Democratic Party depends on and will need every last vote from dead people, people voting more than once, and any other form of "disenfranchisement" they can cook up."
I hardly imagine that kind of thing is sanctioned at the top. It's akin to Republican prevention of blacks voting in Florida in 2000.imortal wrote:

Granted. I admit to finding some of the less savory activities and cherry-picking for the juiciest ones. But the amercian liberals in general are big fans of "each according to their ability; each according to their need." San Fransisco had a program where they Paid homeless people, just for being homeless. It is the democrat party which zelotly guardds the govenments entitlement programs, and constantly warn thier consituants that the republicans want to cancel all their benifits. I consider this not only pandering, but fear-mongering. If you look at polls, many people involved with those entitlements vote democrat simply to maintain or increase those entitlements.CameronPoe wrote:

My only problem with the articles is that two of them are 2004, and the "Crack" one you quoted was for John Kerry...imortal wrote:

Not that they aren't true, but I think you need to pull more current sources. Sure they could happen again, or could still be happening, but they could have also caused some security upgrades...
Last time I voted I had to have been registered (which required my social security number and 2 forms of ID) and then had to show ID when I went to vote...
Well, give it a couple of months for this election. I do not think the dirty tricks will come out until after the primaries, when the two (or three) candidates can get really personal and nasty.HITNRUNXX wrote:

I feel for the victims of Katrina but what do they expect when they live in a natural flood plain.
Although it was not all people but immediately after the storm did we see people banding together to help one another? No. We saw people looting. I'll never forget the one person I saw floating a stolen T.V. on a door as if he would be able to use such a water-logged electronic device, and besides, where the hell was he going to plug it in?
My sympathy for these people ended long ago. Now, years later, they're still looking for a hand-out from the government for an act of god which no one has control over.
