alright, this may sound nooby, mainly because i am one in the field of servers, so i need you to take it slow for me.  I have an extra computer my mom gave to me, it has 480 mb of ram, it has an intel pentium 4 CPU 2.00 GHz 2.67 GHZ no video or sound cards, just built into the mobo, or at least i think -_-.  so my question is could i make it into some sort of game or website perm. server and possibly make a profit off of it?

thanks

Chances of making a profit off it? Very low.

Chances of making a game/communication server or two? Very good.

Na..

Take BF2's recommendations for Game Servers..

Hardware

    * Minimum Specification, based on playing a 16 player game:
          o CPU: 1 GHz
          o RAM: 384 Mb

    * Recommended Specification, based on playing a 64 player game:
          o CPU: 3 GHz.
          o RAM: 1 GB

Bandwidth

(This is only applies when running internet games)

    * Minimum 2.5 Mbit

    * Recommended 5Mbit

well bf2 servers are shitty enough. i can't imagine playing on a server that has 10% of the performance of my computer.

Set up a server on a 3400+ and 2gb of RAM, ran TS, a CSS server, and a BF2 server with good reg on all.
