Boeing's new 787 Dreamliner passenger jet may have a serious security vulnerability in its onboard computer networks that could allow passengers to access the plane's control systems and fly the plane, according to the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration.

The computer network in the Dreamliner's passenger compartment, designed to give passengers in-flight internet access, is connected to the plane's control, navigation and communication systems, an FAA report reveals.

depends if its mouse and keyboard or joystick.

At least it was the FAA that figured it out before it went into service, not some dude in the passenger compartment after.

It's obviusly a BAD idea to connect the internet to in-flight controls

That's a fucking sweet looking airplane. Although presumably cattle class isn't as special.

It does indeed look beautiful... But announcing this to the public? Why not just keep it on a low, and fix the problem?

Because then someone would leak it (or that is what has happened) and then Boing would be accused of covering up major and dangerous design flaws on their planes
