i mean it was on top of the cooling assembly, basically covering a bunch of holes and whatnot.  not necessarily the internal heatsink...

Temps seem ok, but what about the ram speed? Does this mean my ram runs at 400mhz instead of 800???

No RAM works at 2 clock(slagen? dutch but you'll know it) per second I believe and so effectively 400 = 800 (400x2)

ok, so the freezing has stopped since removing the plastic and blowing out all the dust from the system.  but this thing still gets pretty damn hot.  since i have the lamest case in the world (Dell XPS 600) what can i do to cool this sucker off?  there is VERY little room left inside the case, so if i need aftermarket cooling, its gotta be small but effective.

it idles at about 58-60 degrees C.

under load it gets to 78-80 C.

We need to make a sticky of things not to do with new PC components.

1. Do not force RAM into motherboard while it is backwards.
2. Do not apply thermal grease to backside of processor.
3. Do not snip traces off video card to make it compatible with older sockets.
4. Do not leave plastic packaging on cooling components.
etc...

P.S. No offense meant to anyone. I'm just kidding.
