If I had watercooling, I would have an open rig. But for aircooling I don't since the casing keeps the sound levels lower and prevents dust invading my rig.
edit: try using the rig without a sidepanel for a month and your gfx card and cpu cooler fans will be so full of dust. not to talk about the case.

easier maintainance, possible leaks will be noticed before anything major happens and the water won't make the case as aquarium, lol. also it looks better that way.~{TPP}~richoxon wrote:

On. You case will actually be cooler with the side of your case on.
With it off, the air kinda just sits there, but with it on, the fans can work properly and get airflow going through your case.
