Quick tips on the laser guided:
If you want to actually hit anything while locked, you need to keep the camera view pointing forwards so that the nose of your jet is visible or almost visible. Aiming too far off-centre (left/right or too far down) will result in locked targets not being destroyed because the missiles won't track the target regardless of the lock. Just start by locking enemies that are straight ahead of you. Once you get used to that, start pushing the view out a little further until you learn the threshold that will stop the bombs actually locking properly. You should be able to figure out what you can/can't hit pretty quickly by doing this.
Once you know how to hit locked targets easily, learn to guide them manually. All you have to do is constantly try and keep the bomb xhair on target as the jet moves around. Unlike TVs, the laser guided missile will always travel towards the centre of your screen; the crosshair will always be centred, too. If your pilot is considerate and not an asshole, you can often take out 2-3 vehicles using manually guided shots versus the one kill you would get with a locked shot. The only jet that sucks for this is the F-15 because, when you fire the laser guided bomb, the crosshair you use to aim the bomb will disappear, making it a little more tricky as all you have to guide the missile is by estimating where the centre of the screen is. Anyways, once you get the hang of this, you can really get some nice kills. The moment a flag turns neutral due to enemies taking it, fire off as many bombs as possible and splash the flag. Splash choppers on the ground and vehicle clusters, too.
I can splash flags & vehicles even if I'm flying with a worthless pilot who constantly bombs one target and re-arms, giving me absolutely no targets to aim at unless I look for them; with practice you can learn to fire a missile off and guide it (roughly) onto a target area even while the jet is doing a horizontal turn and you're looking almost perpendicular to the direction of travel.
My personal favourite thing to do with laser guided bombs is to splash two targets in very quick succession. E.g. the pilot comes down sharply after seeing a target, so you don't have enough time to kill both using locked missiles. Instead, I'll fire the first off and manually guide it, hopefully hitting the closest target. Then, I'll aim as far down as possible and spam my left mouse button so a second one fires and hits the ground as soon as possible. I love doing this because the second guy will probably be breathing a sigh of relief as there's surely no way that someone can reload & fire & hit in such a short interval
