Maybe I didnt word it right or something. I dont need any of this to last. Just to be able to use my PC without it being incredibly slow for the next few months. I dont need an ultra powerful PSU, ultra powerful memory, or anything. More than anything I really just need a motherboard that will work, and a good external HD thats not too expensive with 160GB of space on it since ive picked everything else out.
why not spend a few $$ more so it CAN last into your next build otherwise your gonna buy the same part's twice. i think we are all just trying to save you money in the long run, plus getting you parts that are not crap
I do not have the money to buy the best components. By the time I do have money for a new build I will be going all out so I wont reuse anything but the case. Ive got about 300 to spend, 350 at the most. I dont have anything more than that, and I dont want to spend money on good components, only cheap decent shit that will get me by without falling apart on me.
Man if you don't have 30 bucks more to spend for a better memory then don't fucking upgrade anything!

Both of you, stop. This isn't about your petty arguments.

Dragonclaw, basically you're just upgrading for the time being?

Get a 500w PSU then, just to make sure. I never reccomend anything below 500w.

I did hear of that word before, but as I do not want to ruin this guy's thread I'll just be nice and say let's just leave it and get back on topic.

Right. Im already getting a 500w PSU since its only like 10$ more than a 450w. All I need is a decent motherboard and external HD. Or would it be cheaper since Im already doing all this crap to buy an internal HD and stick it in the case instead?

That doesn't look like a PSU in your link Dragon. Get this: http://www.hpm-computer.de/product_info … -550W.html
Btw i see you dont care about performance much. Spending so much on the case and so little on the stuff that give you performance and the stuff you could actually call an "upgrade".

(on the HDD) It depends how much space you want. I say go with an internal though.

As for your mobo - go with this:

You said you have like 350 dollars, right?

Ive got the odd 300ish dollars if Im lucky enough. Ill just trust that the money will knock on my door when I need it

Like I said, by the time I can get a new PC Ill either get a 780i/790i or X48. But Ill probably get that mobo so I can sell it for epic profitz later. This will be over $450 for sure but, if there isnt anything cheaper it will have to do.. Hows this for an HD

Any cheaper motherboards available?

WD's always good. I have two WD's in my PC right now and love them. A caviar and a raptor. No problems whatsoever.

Good choice.

I copied this off newegg so its not really neat. I need the ink for sure, along with the extra USB thing, and the mousepad because mine is really, really, crap. Anything that could be replaced with something cheaper on there?

This would be so much easier if we were in the Star Trek era and I could pirate a new PC from the ship computer.

that PSU will serve you well and it didnt break the bank. i think i am going to order some of that A-data EE memory

Hmm. Unless something falls through I dont think Ill be able to get the case I wanted and Ill have to settle for something cheap that I wont be able to reuse. Ill think about that later, right now the motherboard is the problem, the P35 doesnt support pentium 4 so Ill have to go for something else.

If anyone can find one quicker than me:

Has to be compatible with Pentium 4 Prescott

Has to not be a piece of shit, Im not exactly an expert on BIOS settings in fact ive never seen the BIOS of this computer due to shitty gateway so this would have to be configured fine at the default settings. Id really like it under $100 Under $75 would be even better. Oh and none of that MicroATX shit that seems to be everywhere on newegg for some odd reason. Im buying a big case so a mini motherboard isnt going to cut it.
