I dont know what questions to ask, I know there isnt an 8 Core processor (yet anyway) and I never heard of a Mobo with two processors

Now, in conclusion, I leave you with the possibility of Karma and my concluding statement...

Dual+ processor motherboards have been around for over a decade.  They are not common, but they exist.  In the server world, multi-processor systems have been, and remain, the standard.

8 cores is great... but the software you use has to be able to utilize the xtra cores...  They have to code applications differently...which they are in the process of... I believe its called parallel programming

Its going to be crazy in the next few years... games should be insane... and way faster rendering for Max and video...

Yeah, I think its retarded that Processors are so ahead of the programming that coders cant keep up, and that companys continue to push products that cant even be utilized just to be, "better"

ty for the help

Dual-socket Quadcore...

Do want! (But not in mac form)
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

They never said a thing about Crysis in that article, unless the word "Crysis" was somehow never used.

Anything beyond dual core is worthless at the moment, not sure if any major games have truly exploited even that yet. All the makers want to be able to sell their stuff to people with too much money who want to say "I have more cores then you, even though I won't be using them for a decade!"

The Mac Pro consists of various setups:

One 2.8GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon (quad-core)
Two 2.8GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon (8-core)
Two 3.0GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon (8-core)
Two 3.2GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon (8-core)

The dual cpu was allready introduced with the Power Mac G4, so for Apple this is common practice with the Pro-series.

I think it will with a 300Gb 15.000RPM HD, 32Gb of RAM and 4 ATi Radeon 2600 XT 256 Mb on a 30" Cinema Display.

We were joking about Crysis...mister serious pants...lol

and some programs do benefit from quadcore... 3dMax for one

How hugely unimpressive. Give me 1 8800 over those any day.

Really, only industrial computers really need more than 2 cores. Things like computers doing heavy computer graphic rendering or computers that are taking in and sorting out research data. (I mean PC types, not servers and supercomputers)

That would still not hold up a fight against an 15000 RPM HDD, let alone the new SSD.
And that card you mentioned is way out of budget with the 2600, a 2900XT would be a more suiting competitor.
