I don't have a problem with swearing in real life, but in the game if you don't have the filters up little kids spam the comm it profanity just to sound grown up(dosen't work). If you have to swear, swear but you don't have to type it. When I play on severs that don't warn and kick for it, there is a lot more needless spam. Personally I like to swear in Spanish cause it is more fun, and most people don't get it. Esta cabrone es un pinche pendejo sin juevos, yo soy primer chingon.
Well that's a revelationAquafina wrote:
About the swearing - I tend not to because I have been kicked for it in the past. Really wanted to today when I was rearming in my plane and some noob on my team blew me up with C4 placed on the runway.

Depends on whether or not it's belligerent. I don't care if someone says, "Ahh, fuck, I died," but when someone says, "Get out of my fucking plane CUNT" then, yeah ... it's good to be spared that kind of abuse.
Not that being unable to swear makes all the other gamers on the server delightful and friendly. They can still act like monumental jerks even when denied the ability to swear ... and I think that's a much bigger problem.

I like to swear when I'm playing and if it offends some one it's even better!
swearing whats the big deal about some words this is just the stupidist thing that human life has created swear words there just another word in the dictionary sooo get use to it and i love using swear words they can be used as verbs, nouns, adjectives
I don't mind. In fact, if someone swears at me, I know I am doing right. ie fucking him up.
The whole swearing thing is fine and dandy. But a server I play in frequently has gotten wayyyy out of control with it, as many do. "Noob" and "idiot" have now become slanderous words of hate. As has the abbreviation "wtf". That's a bit over the top, if you ask me.
too fuckin right; for fucks sake, who gives a flying shit if someone playing a game that involves so much fucking violence tells you to get fucked because you blew his fucking head off?tF-afrojap wrote:
Good question, stupid poll. You're trying to make people vote No from the start. Looks like the results aren't in your favor though. No offense but, fuckin fuck man, grow some e-balls and deal with that fuckin shit. Holy fuck.Aquafina wrote:
Simple poll. Do you like the constant swearing every minute? I love the word filter, it teaches the swearers now to take the trash talk, into their server.
(e-balls, lol)
I dont normally fucking swear, but after reading your response to a poll about using fuckin swear words in a fuckin glitchy game, I do fuckin realise that i need fucking rehab to get me out of this fuckin swearing phase.oberst_enzian wrote:

and.. I voted No. No fucking way.
Sometimes I'll forgot (or not know) I'm on a no-swearing server and swear - BOOM, kicked, more swearing.
Once I killed 4 guys in a row as they rushed me on foot with my G36C or E, something, and said 'woa, that was some crazy shit!' cus I was amazed I achieved that. KICKED!
On a different note one of the guys accused me of cheating

I rarely read the chat box anyways unless something catches my eye.
I swear in the game as i do IRL, but is not like i do it every round, sometimes i just swear cause i did something really stupid or just to calm down someone in a really offesive way < you think this doesn't work? well no, but it doesn't work in the friendly way either (kidding)
I clicked both because you don't know how to make a proper poll
I got kicked for saying Idiot.
Now thats just wrong.
Now thats just wrong.

How would you get priceless moments without the filter?

Swear filters are bullshit. What the Hell is the point?
I thought of just typing "Fuck you" to people who were for swear filters, but realised that'd be pretty sad of me, and also that I don't really mean it.
Swearing is great. It 'spices up' an otherwise pathetic language. Swear words are possibly the best sounding words ever. I don't really get the problem with them, especially in a game like BF2.
Firstly, who are you trying to protect by using a swear filter?
Little kids? Okay, first of all there is an age restriction/suggestion, but that's not my point. Kids swear. the kids I babysit for can swear like troopers if they want to. They know the words, and in most cases they know what they mean, (I'm not entirely sure if this is my influence but I don't think so.) The good thing is that they know when not to use them. However, when being shot multiple times in a war game being repeatedly frustraded waiting fifteen seconds, I can't think of a better situation where a good outburst of "Fuck" is called for, (I can actually but I'm not going to go there.)
Secondly, swear filters to halt abuse. There is a point here, but so far I have only seen one occurence of open abuse using swearing, (in game.) Something along the lines of "Fuck you, I'm going to kill you you fucking cunt."
So what?
Okay, this guy obviously likes to swear - makes him feel like a big man, but honestly, I don't think the person who recieved this abuse felt hurt, (actually I know this because it was aimed at me.) I laughed. It was funny that I was having that much affect on this guy's mood simply by clicking at the right time.
However, the second occurence of abuse would not be detected by a swear filter. I can't remember it exactly, the guy put a lot of work into it, but it covered the basics of murder, rape, and causing someone else to commit suicide, (thankfully this wasn't aimed at me.) It was truely nasty, yet a swear filter wouldn't have done a thing about it. Swear filters do not work to halt abuse, people can be more imaginative than just swearing.
Reason the third. Protecting the ears/eyes of people who "Just don't go for that shit.".
Come on! Grow up a bit!
Swearing is a part of life, and has been for many centuries. If you don't want to say the words, that's fine, and it is your choice. However, what right do you have to prevent other people using words? Just because you don't want to hear or see them, that hardly gives you the right to ban someone from using language, (call it free speech or whatever.) Learn to live with it. You will deal with people who swear, (like yours truely,) and you will have to live with them.
Fifthly... or fourthly for those keeping count: Swearing is fucken awesome!
Come on, you have to admit that the words sound great right? I mean, what's another short sharp word that gets to the point so quickly as "fuck"? And thy have so many uses. The word 'shit' can be used to describe the noun, ("I did a shit.") a verb, ("I am shitting myself laughing,") an adjective, ("That painting looks like shit.") a state of mind, ("You are a shit-head", or, "I just don't give a shit.") and quite possibly a few others that I'm not going to cover right now. They are words with so many uses, so don't ban them, or cause others gref because they choose to use them.
Another point is, (I'm tired of the numbers game,) there is nothing wrong with the sounds of the words right? If swear words were based on how nice they were to say, than "Grotto" would be a swear word, as would "Moist."
So some people use words that you think are wrong, who cares? It's their choice right? I chose to swear, some of you do not. That's cool. If you think I'm heading down a moral sewer, good for you, but I'll be free to make my own mistakes thanks. Anyway, I don't see anything morally degrading by swearing. Some people, like Chris Rock have made multi-million dollar careers out of swearing. The South Park guys Trey Parker and Matt Stone break every taboo in the book, the first being nine/ten year olds who swear on TV. They're doing quite well thank-you-very-much. Some people even write songs where, if they say "fuck" two more times than they would have said fourty-six "fucks" in some "fucked up rhyme", and they get fame and fortune. These people are even respected members of society, (okay, maybe not Fred Durst.)
Swearing does not hurt anybody, it's nothing they havn't heared before, they are a part of language and they are great to use. So what if some twelve-year-old uses them to make himself feel big? Good for him! He feels better, and so do I when I let off some steam by typing "Fuck" in game. It gives me a bit of personality so people know that there is actually a real person playing along side them.
And if you can't deal with it?
Get over it. Shit happens.

This may be off topic but their is a cs server(don't remember if it is source or not), that wouldn't allow you to call people names.
The irony of guns, is that they can save lives.
Who gives a S**T if people swear on servers or not.. Just the play the game and quit moaning.
I think the swear filter is generally a good thing. It tends to also act as a smacktard filter.
Swearing doesn't offend me... not in the slightest. Its a perfectly good way of emphasising a point, however I don't really think there's a place for it in such an unregulated enviroment. I don't really want my screen to be filled with a pair of annoying spoilt brats having a slagging match.
It's not so bad in bf2 because the text section moves so quickly, but other games where the text hangs around longer..... its just bloody annoying to be constantly spammed by retarded 12 year olds who think it makes them big to say "poo" a lot.
