Off topic, but Assassins Creed got really really repetitive for me.  I play on my roommate's 40" Bravia V.  I don't know all the technical stuff behind it, but COD4 and AC look nice
I've only had it a couple days. The beginning was slow (too much movie not enough game play imo) but it's gotten better. I like games that allow me to commit random acts of violence. I don't know what that means exactly .. but oh well

To be honest, reading this thread and realizing that my buddy has the TV he does makes me wonder if he is able to possibly realize a better resolution than his computer monitor (or mine ) if he were to hook it up to that.  In fact, I'm sure he/we probably could if we update our GFX cards, which we were planning on doing soon anyway.  And I thought having one nice TV would be enough...

Thomas I don't know if you visit AVS forums or not.
You will have to calibrate and tweak the setting to taste. It is a pretty good place to get information.

That is some serious blur Topal. I think you should reconsider your choice.

No doubt!!!

Oh, now I am thinking this: an LCD 1080p HDTV with the lowest response time at its native resolution (1920 x 1080), no frame interpolation, no scaling, etc.

Meaning I need to re-think this, and consider a different model, to bad that Sony's OLE is brand new... that is super-fast and clearer than any thing I've seen yet.

I'm not big on HDTV output, but I sit with fourteen 46" Bravia LCD TVs in front of me every day. The picture from PC is pretty decent. I wouldn't use it as a monitor, it's a bit too fuzzy and way too big for that, but plug in one of the new 360s over HDMI and they really shine. Generally very awesome televisions.

Also, Topal, 120Hz is not noticeable by the naked eye. Max difference you will see is about 75Hz. Anything above that is a minimal change. The claims that sony make don't make the TV better, it just allows them to put a larger price tag on it.
no no no no no NO NO NO NO    NO!

not even the mods can get this right?
Well, see, that kind of reply.... Instead of shouting out pointless "no"s at me. You could care to explain.
Well, to put it simply, the eye is not a camera, and eyesight isn't measured in FPS. It's a constant, fluent chemical reaction. Your eye can percieve any light hitting it, no matter how frequently it changes. Perception beyond the eye is completely individual.

Changed my mind,

Options:
1.) JVC Black 37" 16:9 5ms 1080p LCD HDTV W/ATSC Tuner Model LT-37X688

2.) Sharp 37" 16:9 4ms 1080p - AQUOS LCD HDTV In Piano Black - LC37D62U

3.) SCEPTRE 37" 16:9 8ms 1080p LCD HDTV (1080p 8ms, only $799 - Wow!!!)

_________

These 3 have response times and refresh rates almost exactly equal to (or even better than) some 20" - 26" LCD computer monitors.
_________

Or maybe?

4.) SAMSUNG SyncMaster 305T 30" 6ms(GTG) 2560 x 1600 DVI Widescreen LCD Monitor

That's a very, very nice choice. I was using one a few weeks ago and was impressed by how much better than the 30" Apple Cinema Displays it was.

If you're looking for a monitor then you'll find it very difficult to get a TV that is of sufficient quality. Personally I've taken the smallish (20") monitor approach, with a projector (and a 100" screen) hooked up to the PC for watching stuff on and playing some games (PES, NFS, Dirt etc.) - which I find to be the best way of doing things for me. The image quality could be better (especially on whites), but it's good enough (1080p DLP with a 4x colour wheel usually provides a good projection image that is suitable for gaming/films).

Yeah, you're right, that's a great monitor... but I opted for the 5ms 37" JVC HDTV (I got an uber deal, less than $900 US). I already have (1) 20-inch Planar LCD monitor, and (1) 26" Samsung Widescreen monitor.

Honestly my eyesight sucks, it simply is not what it used to be, , and I hate wearing my glasses. When the text is large enough - there is no need. I am going to use a dual display system the HDTV and one of the monitors I already have.

There is only one problem with Samsung monitors at the moment. Their MagicTune program, which is absolutely brilliant, does not support any Video cards above the 7 series for nVidia. So my Samsung Pebble keeps reverting back to shit defaults because MagicTune tells me its incompatible with the system.

I had a friend call me today. He can get a LN-5271F, for $1800 (maybe less)... baahh. If only I was in the market. I'd take a LN-4671F to hang in my bedroom though .
