Who has heard of this before?

You usually get it from a Chinese restaurant as a western dish, and consists of a breaded breast of chicken, a sausage, chips and a battered pineapple ring.

First question, why do they have the battered pineapple ring with it? Seems a bit out of place to me.

Second question, do people in Maryland actually eat this? Or has it just been changed over the years from a simple fried chicken dish?

thought the same thing sounds like a cooking channel:

"And now ladies and gentlemen we have thedude with the chicken maryland, now thedude tell us a bit more about this delicious dish"
thedude: "well you got the breaded breast then..."
"wait up, first we're going back to Varegg with the Gunslingers eggs"
"tell us a bit more about your eggs, eggy"
Varegg: "well it started in 1899..."

on topic, I have no idea what a "Chicken Maryland" is, well OK reading your post what it is, but why/who/where/when no.

Yeah, I like to talk about food, I always have, maybe I should have been a chef, but I am not, so I am talking to this forum about food!

btw, talking about food did help me score with a this girl once. She was in the year above me at school, fit body, pretty face. When I was in first year at uni, i used to see her on the bus in the mornings and she would come sit next to me. For the whole journey we would talk about food and have a laugh about the fact that we always talked about food. Her family originated from Jamaica (i think), so she would tell me about that.

Got to know her better through this and ended up scoring with her
