How to avoid getting killed by a chopper

After reaching Level 55 and playing quite a bit more COD4, I've devised a way of not getting killed by the chopper.

If you hear the guy say "Enemy chopper inbound" (Can't remember when he says this and when he doesn't) run into a building/under cover and camp. If you wish to move, the chopper will fire a load of rounds, then stop, even if there's nobody to aim at. Then the chopper will fire a missile which doesn't normally hit anything. Then it will pause for maybe a second or two, then fire the cannon again.

By timing your runs you can move between cover when the chopper isn't firing, and survive.

Also note: Make sure your building doesn't have an open roof IE: the OpFor sniper house in Crash

Wrong. By shooting it you attract attention to yourself and where you can shoot the chopper the chopper can shoot you, and you generally lose.

He has a point there. I can easily track people (without UAV) who blindly shoot at the chopper, you can hear them across the map. Camp out and let it pass, then move using your Minimap (if applicable).

Open roof or not, you will want to stay away from windows also.

If the enemy UAV is up, the helicopter is more likely to home in on you. Whether you are moving or not.

Choppers can randomly shoot you through walls btw. Many a time ive been killed while in total cover, ie the middle of a building.

My strategy, sit at a mounted gun and wait for the chopper to come by, shoot at it and problem solved. The lmg takes about 2-3 seconds to down a chopper I love getting on them and running down that pesky chopper.

I'd say that the chopper is to ower powered and it really need to select more random targets.. Not just the same ones.. (Happened a lot to me)
