BF2S Forums I need a new OS - Linux, I believe

Mm, I crashed X on my local linux box, so I can't atm Unless I have a VM lying around somewhere.

EDIT: It isn't the prettiest, but like any Linux distro, you can modify it.

Well, it's developed by Red Hat, which is one of the largest companies offering professional Linux support. Alot of companies use it to host production servers, etc.

You mentioned Leopard.  Leopard is the name of the Mac OS X which is actually a version of BSD.

As for Linux, I would suggest using openSUSE.  I have used Redhat, Fedora, Mandriva, and openSUSE and I choose openSUSE.  Why? Because if seemed to have pretty vibrant support forums.  Also, I thought that the UI was a little more polished.

Currently I have openSUSE running on an old Pentium 4 with only 1 GB of memory.  I do not run a GUI as it is a server with limited memory, but that is ok because I can still telnet into the machine or even run KDE and GNOME apps using an X server running on my windoze box.  This little server has been up for 173 days without a reboot.  I really can not remember why I reboot the machine though.  The machine runs multiple databases, a web server, and a email server all in 1GB of memory.

What I love about Linux is that if you do not like the distro you install, just install a different version.  If you do not like the UI, install another one.  If your PC is not the latest and greatest... that's ok because Linux will run on just about any machine.  I am about ready to install openSUSE on a Pentium III with 256MB of memory...

There is a wikipedia page which lists all the working mobos with OSX. Sadly, mine has quite a few problems ( P5NE-SLI ) and I don't want to go through bullshit again.

lol my buddy did that to his dell laptop.  he even put an apple sticker over the dell logo.  the novelty kind of wears off after a while, but i guess it makes sense for people who love the mac OS but don't want to spend the $.
