What is Red Hat Enterprise Linux? What is so awesome about it?elbekko wrote:
Reason to use CentOS: It's Red Hat Enterprise Linux, but free. It's a very stable and robust OS, and is very suitable for a workstation. Another big upside is you can choose between KDE and GNOME at install time, as well as the huge repositories.
Only downside is the 6-CD install, but meh. You'll only need all 6 if you install everything on there.
Put Wine, Cedega and Mono on there, and you can run about anything.
Both Dreamweaver and Photoshop can run on Linux no problem.ghettoperson wrote:
Zimmer, as I asked before, how are you going to get Dreamweaver and Photoshop to run on Linux? Or are you going down the path of GIMP? *shudders*
Wine.ghettoperson wrote:
How? The installer is an .exe.
Well, it's developed by Red Hat, which is one of the largest companies offering professional Linux support. Alot of companies use it to host production servers, etc. What is Red Hat Enterprise Linux? What is so awesome about it?

There is a wikipedia page which lists all the working mobos with OSX. Sadly, mine has quite a few problems ( P5NE-SLI ) and I don't want to go through bullshit again.ghettoperson wrote:
Why won't OSX work? I know of a lot of people who've installed it on their desktops. Or is it that you need certain hardware?

lol my buddy did that to his dell laptop. he even put an apple sticker over the dell logo. the novelty kind of wears off after a while, but i guess it makes sense for people who love the mac OS but don't want to spend the $.
