So, I've been converting this video for 7 hours now and its only 40% completed. I'm using Videora iPod Converter. I have all the settings for the max quality. I was wondering if anyone has used this before and if so did it take this long for one movie?

I use it, but haven't tried a movie yet.
Your best bet is to keep the quality at medium, and sound quality at high (it doesn't take up too much memory).

The lower the quality, the faster the conversion.

I used Xilisoft... it worked very well and in about 1 hour for a 50 minute video

stuff like this relies heavily on your processor/memory. that being said, it shouldn't take nearly that long. i would try, as suggested, turning down your video quality. keep in mind your only looking at a 2.5" screen anyway...

Wow, I just downloaded this 20 mins ago and am trying to convert a video but can't get it working.  It is a .avi file and i keep getting error 1000000 saying that it failed to convert.  Anybody know how to fix it?

I've used it.  I've converted 3 movies so far...it should really only takes about 30 minutes.  It doesn't even matter if it's at the lowest quality because the screen is so small (I used it for an Ipod touch) and it worked very well.

Just turn the quality down.

I converted seasons 1 - 6 of Scrubs with only one problem: the sound would be out of sync with the picture on about 10% of the videos. I reconverted them and it fixed itself, but I just thought it was strange. (Using Videora.)

Converting DVD movies through Videora iPod classic Converter is a straight forward process. It requires the use of two seperate programs. A DVD ripper prorgam to decrypt your DVD and turn in into one big file and our iPod classic video converter to convert this big video file into the iPod classic playable video format. The steps to do this are provided below. To view a larger version of any of the screenshots, simply click on the screenshot desired.

Remember do not copy DVDs that you do not own! It is illegal to make a copy of a movie for use on your device if you do not own the original.

The legality of DVD ripping will vary based on your country of residence. Red Kawa Inc. does not in any way endorse violation of the valid rights of copyright holders, and strongly recommends that you consult your country's copyright and fair use laws before copying any video content.

Step 0 - Download Required Software
You should already have a copy of our iPod classic video converter. If you do not, simply click here to download Videora iPod classic Converter. Next you will need a copy of DVD Decrypter, a popular DVD ripper prorgam.

Step 1
Place the DVD you want to rip your video from into your DVD drive.

Step 2
Launch the DVD Decrypter software.

Step 3
Go to the Mode menu and select IFO I mode. This will give you access to two new tabs; Input & Stream Processing.

Step 4
Go to the Tools menu, select Settings, go to the IFO tab, then under Options, change File Splitting to None and press OK.

Step 5
Go to the main screen and click the Stream Processing tab. Enable it and only select the first video listed. Note that home encoded movies do not support subtitles of any kind and that your file can only have one type of audio.

Step 6
Before you begin ripping your video, note the destination of the video file. This is where your raw DVD rip is going to go and it will be rather large in size. If you want to change the directory that DVD Decrypter will output to, click on the Browse button and navigate to the folder you want and press OK.

Now that you know where the movie file is going, click on the Decrypt button to start decrypting the DVD to your hard drive.

Once it is done, close DVD Decrypter. Expect a 4 GB to 6 GB movie to take about 12 to 18 minutes.

Step 7
Convert the file that you ripped using DVD Decrypter like you would any other video file in our video iPod classic converter. It will be located exactly where you put it in Step 6. If you don't know or remember how to convert video files with Videora iPod classic Converter please consult our Video to iPod classic Guide.

I've always used Videora for my iPod and the quality always kicks ass. Is your computer a POS as far as its specs???

Here are my settings:
H.264 VGA 1048 kbps Stereo/128kbps
iPod_5g (make sure this is selected, it may make a difference)

You might also turn up the CPU usage during the conversion.
