Because he is our President and our commander in chief. I disagree with things he has done, as I do with Clinton as well. Would I vote for Bush again if he could run again? Nope. But, he is my president and the leader of my country and you excessively badger him which means you badger me too. I don't expect you to agree with my point but I would hope you respect it.

I respect your feeling, but I want you to accept mine as well dude.  I consider Bush a guy, not a country.  If someone insults my president, she is a woman, I don't give a fuck, because she isn't my country.  I expect you to understand my intentions never were to insult either your country or any of you guys here.  You must admit I can't be anti-American for criticizing Bush, when I love Bill and I've been to the US a lot of times.

I browsed through the Argentina thread again. Apart from the usual more or less friendly chatter, there is not a single post in there that doesn't either deal with the topic at hand or your motives for creating it in the first place.

And I don't consider questioning the reasons behind the creation of a specific thread derailment. I mean, it's not like people started discussing Britney Spears or s.th. They wanted to know why you created the thread in the first place, because they were second-guessing your motivation.
If I am not mistaken, that happens regularly here at D&ST ( with everyone's threads, that is, not yours specifically ), and I'd say it is a legitimate part of the debate.

And I didn't say retaliation or pattern. I said that from your title, and your words, some people may have gotten the impression that the thread was a cheap shot at serge. If you felt offended by what I wrote or supposedly implied, let me assure you that was not my intention.
I will, however, maintain, that your reaction was overly aggressive and uncalled for.

Still, I wonder what upsat you more. That people were supposedly derailing your thread, or that they questioned your motives behind its creation ?

Now, as far as your complaints about other people derailing your threads go, we cannot be everywhere. Did you report it ? Was it dealt with by the mods ?
Point me to the thread in question, and I will look at it again.

You know, in this city, you'd need a fair bit of paperwork to do this. Canberrans like their trees. A lot - so much that you can't see much of the city underneath.

Well pine trees are high in acidity,  and that kills my grass which pisses me off. I am less than 1/8 of a mile from a golf course so everybody's lawn is manacured nicely. Plus, I own my land so I can cut down whatever I want. I left the oak trees alone btw.

Pine isn't suited to towns. Its acidic as Nut says and ever green which means nothing can grow in its crown spread. They are prity hard for birds to nest in too. They are a harvest-able tree anyway with life span of 25-35 years.
We have similar laws here but they are generally only applied to indigenous trees. You can fell pine if you plant something indigenous in its place.
Our only ingenious pine is Scott's pine which isn't acidic and has broken canopy.
I have no problems felling pine..........not supposed to be in this country anyway. Glad to hear you kept the oak. They will probably still be there when your grand kids are playin in them.

Marine did nothing wrong with the thread except by the misleading title.  Anyway, I know him so he did it to get me angry, but he failed.  I understand you guys when you get deffensive coz of the amount of threads talking about the US.  I always posted with the best regards towards the US.  Do I criticize Bush?  Yes.  Do I hate America?  No.  Do I criticize my country's president?  All the fucking time.  Do I hate my country?  No, I don't.  This is an American forum and most of the members are American, it's obvious that America will be a topic, but that doesn't mean, at least from me, that someone is trying to constantly bash your country.  And if that is the feeling you have, I apologize.

It is the feeling we get sometimes....at least for me...but you seem to understand it. Please know that most Americans understand that our government and the powers that be really screw up in major ways. We talk amongst ourselves all the time how f**ked it is. I live in Michigan and if anyone knows what is going on in Michigan, then you would understand how screwed we think the government is. We are not angels but sometimes we do the right thing...even the government. There are good people serving us but not enough by far. Our forefathers are probably rolling in their graves seeing what politics has done to this country. We are not what they meant us to be...not even close. So, as I said...we know all the BS that is wrong in America but let us all remember that our country is not alone is screwing things up....take a look all around us in practically every country.

I agree the World is fucked up.  I just want you to understand one thing about my posts against Bush, they are directed at Bush, not the US, a country I really love.  I have family there, I go every time I can, and I think it's a great country.  The same way I criticize Bush, I admire Bill Clinton.  The thing is Bush is in the office and he is doing a bad job IMO.  That doesn't involve Americans at all.  I know a lot of Americans and I think you are really cool.  Of course, there are good and bad people everywhere.  In Argentina, Europe, the US.  But my point is, I never wanted to hurt the feelings of anyone, I just posted my opinion regarding Bush.  I've been told I'm anti-Semite for criticizing Israel, and my whole family happens to be Jewish.  I post in a sincere way, I have done a few posts that ashamed me, or behaved like an asshole, like yesterday insulting GS, a guy I respect and consider very intelligent.  But hey, I'm human, I make mistakes.  So, I want you to forgive me if you felt offended by any of my posts.  That goes to every American that thinks I crossed the line in regards to America.
