Farmington Police Lt. Shane Whitaker says six or so Farmington Junior High School students took pictures of themselves and then shared the naked images.

They are considering charging them with 2nd degree felony of child pornography, now this gets a little puzzling since its the child that took the pic .... now it can be argued that it falls under the consensual part but its referring to if an adult takes the pics and the child obeys

I would make it very clear to them on what they did has potentially repercussion of there actions ie those pics can find there way to the net and haunt them the rest of there lives

This really is just kids being kids. They were clearly just exploring themselves sexually and when a parent found the pics, the must have been understandably concerned for their child, so they contected the police. I think its naiive of the authorities to think that this kind of experimentation is anything new, but obviously the fact that it has now happened with the use of mobile phone pictures means that the kids' safety has been compromised.

IMO the kids havent comitted a crime by experimenting in this way; however I think they have jeapordised their own safety by using mobiles to keep photos, and because of that, those kids involved need to be educated more thouroghly on how this could have led to paedophiles getting hold of these images. Dont prosecute them for being kids, just teach them the right thing to do and let the parents discipline them for being so careless.
