Wow, are things different!

Damn! I kinda like it thought! I will have to change a few of my own computing habbits but i think it will be worth it.

So far i really don't have a clue what im doing, but when i make some good progress i'll keep updating this post. So if your interested in Ubuntu, or maybe thinking about switching yourself, check back in for my list of likes and dislikes.

So far,

##LIKES##
It's new! a fresh change! not the same old conformist Windows XP user anymore!
It comes ready to use, pretty much! Firefox comes installed, and it's got a Trillian-like Instant message program.

##DISLIKES##
I've heard it doesnt support many of the files im used to using on Windows. I haven't tried bringing in any of my backed up stuff off my disks. Nor am i sure if i can*
I haven't figured out how to change the resolution yet so everything is strange looking

By far not all. Just a few ones work without problems. Most programs won't work at all. Fuck Microsoft.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP
