I like to put arty strikes on the chinese airfield on wake because there are always some campers who didn't get the jet,easy kills + they deserve it.
Getting in the ESSEX AA will result in you dieing a few seconds quicker then if you stand on the deck when im flying, thats about all the use it will do.
Mj.Blindfisch brings up a good point... since everyone is stuck at the carrier because there is just no way to leave, the commander feels the need to artillery our ass every opportunity possible. So if the jet didn't blow up the BH/Cobra on it's pass... you can bet your silly ass that the artillery will ensure you don't leave the carrier.
And that is assuming that you make it to the ESSEX without getting gunned down by the pilot, obliterated by the artillery, or flung into orbit by a new technique i see pilots using where they go over the carrier as low as possible and hit every troop standing on top. I totally agree, I am assuming you were talking about wake island, as that's the only map that fits your descriptions perfectly.
On wake, a competant pilot can pretty much single handedly prevent the US from even touching the mainland, I know because I have done it. The USS essex is useless because AA doesn't work and I can take that thing out with the guns in seconds in one pass. A second pass allows me to frag a good whack of people with bombs and a third pass allows me to gun down and low fly into the remaining troops. A quick flyby over your airfield and you can repeat this process over and over, taking out any boats and aircraft that attempt to leave.
Simple solution is to make AA more effective, which the patch will address, and the addition of a AA kit or Stinger type weapon would help too.

I've seen him in action, yeah hes good but not the best.
I've been baseraped by that asshole, too, Mex. I agree with you about the seemingly ineffective AA.
The first problem is there are not enough skilled AA gunners, because everyone wants to FLY and "nobody" really want to practice / learn to use the AA properly.
The second problem is lack of TEAMWORK, in this case meaning you need to man BOTH of the AA turrets AT THE SAME TIME on the USS Essex to protect against good pilots.

And even if you could, any moderatelly skilled pilot knows how to avoid the land based AA. ENOUGH with the "AA works if you use it right posts" please... AA doesn't fucking work, everyone knows it, that is why plane whores bomb the carrier the whole time. If you really think that the AA weapons work well then you must be playing a different game than the rest of us.

Meh, AA is pestillence for a jet.. There's nothing AA can do to you, but the moment you stop dodging you're vulnerable. Just be clever with the AA and don't attract their attention when they can kill you.

Ok people, lets just hope the patch fixes it, cant you wait one day without playing on a map that contains a jet aircraft? If the patch dosen't fix the AA (its useless, i dont see how you can deny it), then boo on EA and DICE.

maybe it could be, speaking for myself, I cant stand playing a game that I have 99.9% no defense against the jet/chopper whores.do you really think we would find that fun while your sailing through the wide blue open skies,killing at will, building your stats and lowering mine.
no Im not saying Im not going to the maps with jets/choppers,because I will.some days Ill test my luck and sometimes get lucky getting through the round w/o being killed by a jet whore.as far as choppers I have been more lucky I guess you could say, as Ive taken them down(usually both the pilot w/a gunner) with an AA vehicle or my armor.
but Im no noob,just have good common sense and my common sense takes me most times to a jetless map where Im not always having to look up and worry about a jet whore taking me out,lowering my k/d ratio.
I would rather be killed on the ground by someone on the ground then by someone just flying around and around and around dropping missles at will...

1: If the planes take out the black hawk/chopper and the air planes without problem I won't be getting these for a while.
2: Taking the boat could be a good idea, well thouth luck, because we got 3 tanks, several gunners in the jeeps waiting at the shores, well there could be either 1 at the other side and 2 at the other end. Both of them with only them with only the machine gun can kill a boat without any kind of problem. I have killed one of these tanks with rocket though took some time due to that he drove behind cover.
3: Not only that but you got a chopper with a killing gun againts boats.
So all in all, if you got a good pair of plane whores and godly tank users with a good pilot in the chopper with a good gunner againts, USMC isn't gonna win.
So I'll pick a map where I at least have a chance of getting out of the base and beeing able to attack back before I die. Because it's more FUN. Yes IT'S FUNNIER to play those maps when you ain't getting killed 24/7 due to that someone wants points.
