Ok so today i bought GTA:SA for my computer, i go ahead and put it in the drive and it doesnt start autorun, well I go look at My Computer and it doesnt even say that i am Running it at all. So then I try BF2: nothing, I try CoH: Nothing, and then I tried DoW:Nothing.

What the hell is going on? my CD drive isnt working either, it wont read anything.

Is this somehow related to the virus i was having earlier in my other thread? http://forums.bf2s.com/viewtopic.php?id=90127
or is there something so obvious and easy i should slap myself?

Seriously i want to play my god damn GTA and BF2!!!

EDIT!!!!

I have a vid of me going over the stuff

It may have something to do with that virus if it's still present. Maybe the laser is broken. I can't really help because I've never had this problem. So good luck.

Does your BIOS recognize the drive and are you able to boot from it (stick your windows CD in or w/e). Probs your drive is dead though
once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot  xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.

The Virus is gone for sure, actually i had three malware counts, i also had adware.
I wouldnt have found it if it wasnt for Downy.

The odd thing is that I put the Norton 360 (Garbage dont use it) CD in there and it worked. I wonder if the virus or malware screwed something up

I can put up a list of the malware and viruses if that will help

Edit: ok here is the list

So, some CDs are working, and some aren't. Am I correct?
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

I had the same problem in my PC, both DVD drives stopped working, or only worked at particular times, couldnt solve it, ended up buying a new DVD drive and havent had any problems since, maybe because this one uses a SATA cable.

Is it in the way that only CD's work and DVD's don't (or other way around), or are some CD's and some DVD's working?

that doesn't answer the question. which part is true?

what he's getting at is that you might be trying to get a DVD to run in CD drive, which is a nono.

Or, if it's a DVD/CD combo drive that's only recognizing CD's it's likely a driver problem which may, more then likely, be resolved by reinstalling the drivers/firmware.

i don't think I've seen a CD drive that needs drivers to function since the 90s. i'd go with firmware, good point.

both drives are screwing up? sounds like a windows related problem. did you try restarting?

Yes, ok here is where things get complicated

I open up Device Manager and check my drives, it has a caution symbol by both and it tells me

"Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)"

My drives are Sony CD-RW CRX217E
and TSSTcorp DVD-ROM TS-H352C

Also both drives have odd programs with providers by the names of GEAR and SonicSolutions

EDIT!!!

Use either WipeDrive Pro or another hard drive erasing program and reinstall windows on the completely wiped drive. If its a virus doing this then that will get rid of it.

Then theres a high chance you have a virus thats fucking with your hardware detection.

Well I have used Spy Sweeper, Norton 360, Adaware, and Spybot, nothing is picking it up

If nothings picking it up then its something newer that hasnt been detected yet. All the worse for you if you dont get rid of it quickly. Id recommend changing all your passwords to everything on another PC ASAP just to be safe.

Just make sure you use good software to erase the whole drive so nothing is left that can come back and assfuck you later.
