No. In fact, the Rep Party is the exact opposite of that (minus the neocons). It is, historically, the Democrat Party and other leftists who try to use big government to impose their ideology on others...and who are completely intolerant of those who feel differently.CameronPoe wrote:

as they exist in large nations, capitalism and communism are structured roughly the same. there are relatively few in the ruling class, there are poor landless masses, and there is usually also a small middle class. in one case, the ruling class is called the government, in the other, the ruling class is called private enterprise. its a fact that the ruling classes of these societies have always protected each other even if the landless masses or powerless, but well-fed, middle classes believe they are enemies.

If, by neocons, you mean the Religious Right, then I agree.FEOS wrote:

True conservatives are generally Libertarian.
Then again, true liberals only impose things that have to do with the general benefit of the poor. True liberals aren't politically correct, but they do want social safety nets in place. In this way, you could say true liberals are civil libertarians and socialists wrapped into one.
Still, if we look at the behavior of both parties today, they both clearly have an agenda of imposing values on us. The Republicans impose the War on Drugs and FCC restrictions on us, while the Democrats impose affirmative action and gun bans.
Communism ideology: A lack of a governing body. No class system. Everyone is provided with all necessities. Equal rights and privileges to all people. Each person is assigned a job based on their abilities.Marinejuana wrote:

Now I'll admit that this form of ideology would not work because most people in the higher classes (rich people) are selfish, and wouldn't give up their luxuries to make life better for everyone else. Another flaw is that you need some form of government to decide where to move resources, build new towns etc. So that leaves room for corruption.

From a proponent of abortion, that is one of the most obscene cases on the planet. Let's take a look at the US: how come the authorities shifted the trial date for a technical (and disputed) offense of a certain Mr. Weaver's and then came to his property and butchered a chunk of his family because he didn't notice?
The wheels of bureaucracy roll ever on.

I have read the communist manifesto and realize how it differs from communist governments "as they exist in large nations" like i said in my post. thank you. there are few examples of true communism, and most of the nations that we commonly recognize as communist are fundamentally capitalist.dill13 wrote:

So you don't call democracy an ideology imposed on you when you were young? And stop blaming everything on the Chinese communist government, China needs a one child policy for population control, otherwise millions of people will starve. What's worse? Stopping children being born or watching them die of starvation?David.P wrote:

In a way, you're right. But, if you think about it... If a certain amount of people are going to die regardless, maybe they should just sterilize the masses. Then, no fetuses are involved and no one else has to starve. They could allow immigration from India to provide the youth they need.Vub wrote:

I think everyone has an incorrect view of the one-child policy. The one-child policy states that a couple can have at most 1 child. And up to now it's worked, China has negative population growth. However, if a couple does conceive another child and it's too late to abort humanely, then the government just fines the couple. The story discussed by the original poster is a special case of negligence and should not reflect the policy of the Chinese government. They are people too, who love their country and love their kids. They're not monsters.Turquoise wrote:

No, but their government is. Most governments are to one degree or another.Vub wrote:

I have to admit. The Chinese are certainly pragmatic -- ruthlessly so. This is why they make such a formidable opponent. Their people tolerate a level of oppression unthinkable in the First World.
Nevertheless, sterilization would be the most practical move yet.
Enough people in China are making enough money as to not complain about the governmentTurquoise wrote:
