Well, you will never need a 1000w PSU so get rid of that and buy a 750w instead. 8800GTS G92 is actually better than the 8800GTX now, only difference is the GTX runs 4% better against the stock 8800GTS but you can overclock the GTS better. If you buy a 750w PSU and the G92 8800GTS you can probably have money left over to afford a Q6600. You dont need an SLI board either, P35 or X38 will be fine.

What about an OC'ed GTX vs. OC'ed GTS G92?

I say stick with the GTX.

OC'd G92's take less power than a GTX (G80)

And, even an SLI set-up with a bunch of others, probably wont take up anymore than 800W.

850W PSU imo is as much as 99% of people will need in even the most high spec machines.

I know he needs an SLi board because he will SLi on later, so P35 or X38 is out of the question.

Ive read the G92 GTS can overclock better than the GTX, the overclocked GTS is even better than the stock 8800Ultra.

Then the 780i is a good choice for that even though SLI is a waste of money for little performance gain IMO.

Nah, that wouldn't be such a performance increase and the 8800GT's will lose in a lot of things especially at higher resolutions. When the second GTX comes in though it has great performance.

Can 't find tinypic servers. Do you need a monitor, keyboard, mouse and speakers in that budget too?

Yes against a stock Ultra, that doesn't mean that it's faster then a overcloked Ultra.

I, as many others, say, go for the G92 GTS.

They're cheaper.
They're equally performing and clock better.
They're cooler.
They're more power efficient. (Lets you save up on the PSU)
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

Cut down on the PSU.
Now, I don't know much about them, but this one seems nice: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showprodu … mp;subcat=

And indeed, a G92 GTS.

Where is the quad core? If you are complaining about not running Crysis, the last thing you want is a dual core.

A little bit over your budget but you could always get a 680i mobo, and 2 non OC'd 8800's, cheaper PSU etc.
This beast is certainly faster than the system with 1 gtx, hell even 1 overclocked gts > gtx.
