Certain sounds have gone altogether, the bleep in the menue when you hover over a clickable, MY gun sound, although all others are still there. "Let's do this Marines!" is gone also.. What's going on? Some are here and some arn't..
Oh yeah, grenade sound works.

Save your profile and reinstall. Have you tried that? You have to remember this is still an EA game, and we all know what fixes 99% of EA's game problems, a reinstall.

It...It's an EA game??

*deletes anything good he has ever said about it*

Cba with re-installing... takes too long.
I'd much rather have a quick fix.

No, it's not an EA game, but still a reinstall would be the quickest way to solve the problem then waiting 2 hours for someone to find a quick fix.

First question: Is this speakers, regular headphones, or USB headphones you are using?

Used line-in speakers, line-in headphones, same result with both. Searching for drivers right now.
EDIT: Which driver do I download? I got to SoundBlaster Live! series and got lost.

Here is the last driver they had: http://us.creative.com/support/download … 17&y=8

I had the EXACT same problems with BF2... I think (hard time remembering) it happened occasionally until I replaced the card, but seemed like it happened the most on my USB headset...

If the first link is your card, the second link is your driver for Windows XP

And uninstall your current drivers before installing the new ones (if you didn't know)... You one you have installed looks like it is from a 2002 Sound Card... Not the one you are actually using...

I will do, 20 minutes later after a 40mb d/l at 25 kb/s.
LOL at my major fuck up. Left the other card in. Will the one I just installed overwrite it and I can take it out next shutdown or should I just shutdown once d/l is done and take it out?

If your are not going to use it, go ahead and take it out. Otherwise you will have to go into your system devices and disable it... Which isn't a big deal, but adds a little complication.

Nah, I'm not going to use it, I was just asking if I had to take it out now or I could take it out later.. Because I wanna get this working, without having to shut down, take it out, restart.
Directions to system devices?

Easiest way is holding down the "Windows Key" (Key with the windows symbol on it) and hitting the "Pause/Break" key (usually in the upper right hand of the keyboard. Then (trying to remember XP terms here) click I think it is in either a system or hardware tab, click device manager... That takes you to where you need to go.

Problem. Old sound card has a wire coming from it that is welded in (from what I can see) and goes behind my HDD case. Can't see where it goes to.

Oh, new sound card fixed COD4 problem Thanks.

Good deal, gratz. Wire coming off the card probably goes to some front case plug ins... Shouldn't be soldiered though, it should be just plugged into the card... Meaning if you have front hook ups, they may not work until you get that fixed.

Soo... leave the card in?
Pull it out, cut the cable?
Oh, and I'm also getting some static on gunfire, or explosions.. but the cable is in right..
Might have fixed the static, stuck the cable into the wrong input on the sub
