There's a hell of a lot more to a good car than horsepower... I can't actually find how much DBS costs over here, but my point was rather than that a DBS is a better car, that there are a lot of better cars out there than a Corvette.BlackKoala wrote:
Cheapest I could find for a base DBS is $265k. That puts out 510ish HP at the wheels according to here. If that's at the crank, sorry.ghettoperson wrote:
I very much doubt you could get a Lingenfelter tuned one for that. And plus, they really aren't that great looking. They're certainly nice, but there's a thousand better looking cars out there.ig wrote:
yea well i can get 4 z06s for the price of one of those
And you can fuck right off if you think I'm going to list them.
To get the 800HP kit thrown onto a corvette Z06, it's a smooth $45k. That includes a ton of mods to get is sex worthy. Add that to the Z06 base of around $70k, it nets you a $115k car that is fucking god like. Hell, even the 630HP package is only $9k. RIP John Lingenfelter. =/
I could have sworn I read something about a package for the upcoming ZR1. Looking...
So yeah, you can go pay that much for a European luxury sports car, or you can pay half that for a piece of American muscle history. I, for one, would gladly take the Corvette.
((Not to mention that over here, getting work done to a motor that has 'GM' scribbled all over it is ten times cheaper than to get a European car serviced))
And my point is that for the price; very, very few. You threw the DBS out there like it was better, but it's also four times the cost of a base Corvette.ghettoperson wrote:

Actually I never mentioned the DBS. That was someone else. I just questioned whether you could get a Lingenfelter Corvette for less, to which I was wrong.BlackKoala wrote:

Let's not think the corvette is just raw power, it also has some of the best handling ever. it can pull 1g of force while turning, not many other cars can do that. the beloved 'porche' handling can only pull .9g's on its sharpist turn.ghettoperson wrote:

... we can tell you already that GM's 7.0-liter all-American supercar is the real deal. How? Because Jan Magnusson, one of the drivers of the Le Mans class-winning C6R, turned up at the legendary Nuerburgring Nordschliefe circuit the Thursday after the 24-hour race and peeled out a seven-minute 42.99-second lap in a pre-production car--on treaded tires, not race slicks.
To put that lap in perspective, it's within fractions of a second of the best time ever set by Porsche's hard-core 996 GT2 and about 10 seconds faster than the best laps by exotics such as the 493-horse, V-10-powered Lamborghini Gallardo and the 617-horse, supercharged V-8-powered Mercedes-Benz McLaren SLR. What's more, the time was achieved in unseasonably muggy conditions, which probably took a slight edge off the LS7's 505 horses. The only production car that's gone faster at the 'Ring is Porsche's $450,000 Carrera GT, which reportedly has lapped in the seven-minutes 32-seconds bracket.
You mean the sound of a $600k + car? (LOL, new one is over a million)The#1Spot wrote:

American and detuned v-8s generally sound the same. How can a throaty/grunt engine make you fall in love with it. Beauty must stand out from all others. Like the mercedes v12 in a Pagani Zonda.
