Im taking the Pats by 17. The temperature and field conditions in Arizona are ideal for the Pats offense and New York is way to banged up, although they have two weeks to recover.

Can I ask this probably stupid question: how can the New England Patriots fund such a successful team? I read up on them in Wiki today cos I wanted to know where they were based and found out that they're from Foxbourough, Connecticut. Foxborough? Wtf? It has a population of about 16,000 or something!

They play in Foxboro, Massachusetts. They are not sponsored by the town, they are privately owned by Robert Kraft.

The team is owned by a really rich guy Robert Kraft ...  The town is just a place to have their HQ and practice facilities

It works a bit differently in the USA's national sports...
See, there's a Salary Cap that no team can exceed (except in baseball), thus keeping competition fairly close every year, and allowing any team, regardless of location, a shot at winning.
Also, the money mostly comes from the owner of a team. In the Patriots case, it's Robert Kraft, of Kraft Foods fame. He certainly has enough money.

Actually Cam, it's Foxboro Massachussetes, not Connecticut. It is very close to CT but it is in  Mass. As far as the funding, it is funded privately by their owner Robert Kraft. The stadium is located just south of Boston and just north of CT so it is an ideal location for fans to travel to. They have a coach that really preaches "team". When players hold out for more money they get cut no matter how good they are. As a matter of fact the starting quarterback, Tom Brady, took a pay cut so Randy Moss was able to sign and the Pats remained under the salary cap.

I like this idea of a salary cap. It's something that should be introduced in European soccer. It would stop the endless cycle of domination by the likes of AC Milan, Juventus, Inter Milan, Manchester United, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Barcelona.

If that happened, Chelsea would be even more fucked.

The salary cap keeps the league more competetive, it really is designed so one team may not dominate for more than a season or two based solely on their ability to spend. Unless you are the New York Yankees of course.

Yes please.  Newcastle would also be totally fucked, thats the only way they lure 'big' players, albeit ones that turn out to be total and utter flops.  Michael Owen anyone?

I lol'd when the circus involving Keegan was finally crashed this weekend.

Edit:

Shit, I forgot this was about American Fuzzball.  Poe's fault.
