I just bought 2GB of Crucial ddr2 ram; to go with my current Crucial ram; bringing my total up to 4GB (4096MB).

However, when I run "dxdiag" it says I only have 3326MB of ram.

...and in the properties of "My Computer" it only gives me 3.25GB.

Does this mean that one of the new sticks is dead?

3GB should only be 3072MB, so where is it getting the few extra MB from?

32 bit OS?
once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot  xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.

then there is nothing you can do. You won't be able to use more unless you get a 64bit OS.

No, no problems. I have 4 gigs myself. 32 OS just doesn´t "see"  all of it.

A 32 bit OS can only address 4GB memory. But from the "pool" of addresses some get assigned to gfx cards, mobo, HDs, which leaves less than 4GB for RAM. Shouldn't cause any problems to leave 4GB in.

EDIT: all the better
