OK this is simply doing my head in.

My router says that I am connected do the internet and I can view web pages using AOL's shitty browser software, but when I try to use any independent browser, almost every webpage I try to load will not do so.  Strangely though, some webpages do load, albeit very few.

I normally use Firefox but I have also tried Opera and even IE7 but every browser has the same problem, 'Server not found', 'Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage' etc etc.  At the same time I get the error code '80072ee7' when trying to sign into Windows Live Messenger.

Other symptoms include broken vista gadgets (they require data from the internet), iTunes fails to connect to the iTunes store and all other computers connected to my home network are operating as normal.

Anyone who has any suggestions which can fix this has my everlasting gratitude.
Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known.

Check the AOL browser if it's using any proxy settings. If so, enter them in FF/IE/whatever you want to use.
