Hi,

This may be in the wrong section, because its not for use with the PC but..... I have had my (sexy) iPod for about a year now, and have gone through, including the crappy pair they give you, 6-7 pairs of headphones. I use it ALOT, I listen to it whenever I walk anywhere, I have them on, or around my neck at work all day and use them every time I get on the bus (an hours journey to and from work). I am very fussy when it comes to headphones, they have to be over ear ones (not connected by a band as I have to have one off some of the time) , and have decent bass on them. This was my last pair:

They have been the best so far, lasted about 2 months.

So my question is this: Has anyone found a brilliant set of over ear headphones which don't go bust real easy with regular use? And if so, where the hell do I find them ? :p

Cheers lava- however I was looking to spend max £30 ($60ish). And they need to be able to seperate... like in ear ones, but with the clip.

these are the ones which I have used for the past couple of years.

Sony MDR-EX71SL

Had a white pair to begin with and used them for ages until my cat chewed through one of the cables. Now I have the same but in black and used them just the same as you do, walking, on the bus, in work 9-5, at the gym, during sex (joke)...

@Killswitch: The V-Mode headphones look awsm. But waaaaay too expensive. Ty anyways
@Dude: Are they comfy? Not too invasive in-eear experience? Because i've had alot invading my ears and I find it uncomfortable to have something that is a) too big and/or b) too deep in my ear.... if you know what i mean
@Kurazoo: My hearing is fucked already. Too many gigs.

EDIT: Cheers for all the suggestions, i must go and work now. However will check them all out properly later.

@BenO - yeah they are the most comfortable headphones that I have ever put in my ear. They come with 3 sizes for the rubber ear piece so you can choose which you want. The sound quality is also the best I have ever heard from a set of earphones, so you can put the music up loud and not get any sort of distortion. Also the design cuts down on the noise which others hear, so you can have them pretty loud without anyway hearing it.

Pretty cheap, but work great. Had them for about 5 or 6 years now and are still running strong. Matter of fact, yesterday I was wearing them in the rain and I take them off and their soaking, but still working fine.

I've had 4 pairs of those motherfucking iPod earphones now, they keep breaking @ the plug in, the little piece of rubber just rips and after some while the cables just rip too, and the base in my right ear phone has gone flat. Fuckin cheap apple, I didnt expect to get such crappy earphones when I bought the damn thing.

i have those sennheisers that jen has too...but i also have this, which i find to be amazingly better then anything else out there for the price. i use this all the time...only use the sennheisers on plane/cartrips to cancel noise.

to be honest, listening to music at a decent level is normal. records are meant to be heard at 75-80db, which is loud, but not deafening. if you dont listen to it at that level, your missing out on about 1/2 of whats actually going on. im not gonna go into the details of how it works, but it has to do with phase-cancellation.

Wrong. It's terribly ignorant to say they don't sound bad unless you have better things to compare them to.

The high end is WAY WAY WAY too high for those little things, they are in no one place equal, they sound tinny, break easily, look like crap, and theres literally no low end.

It depends. If you work in an environment with moderately loud/loud noises for extended periods, then you probably will get some degenerative effects - there would be the damage to your hearing from the environment, and then you would possibly turn up the volume in your headphones because it seems softer, worsening the damage. It would be an extreme case for there to be any noticeable difference in the medium term though.

Thanks for all the suggestions and input- I went and bought these: http://www.sennheiser.co.uk/uk/icm.nsf/root/500498
They are the type i was loking for (supra-aural is the correct term apparently), they are comfy, decent bass, excellent quality and range, AND they have a 2 yr warranty, so if they fuck up, which they most probably will, I will be able to get another pair free.
