So I ordered another set of 2x 1gb 800mhz memory!
All runs smooth with 4gb in total now

Now the question: I have THIS memory, (cas timings 5-5-5-15) And i've set the timings to 4-4-4-12, does this any harm? I haven't got any errors or problems?

I would set the timing to what the specs are for your RAM but you will prolly be safe with your settings.

I have a similar question.

I currently have 2 gigs of Cosair XMS DDR2 800 x 6400 installed in my windows xp home system and I have the timing to them manually set to their specs with the voltage up a little more than default.

I want to add 2 more gigs of the same brand but need to know if I will HAVE to do anything with the timing or should I just install the RAM sticks and be good to go?

I dont think so but it might make your system unstable, I would still set it to 5-5-5-15 just to be safe.

can you help me with my question?

just get another 2 gigs of the exact the same you have now, stick them in your PC and the ram will run at the settings that are in your bios.

Seems like you guys got everything figured out, but I have a question: Are the slightly faster timings even noticeable, though?

No not really to be honest, but it sounds cool when summing up specs

Lol at my shitty Kingston KVR DDR2-400. It's got really leet timings, but suck in every other aspect.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP
