Defrag, delete un-used programs and use CCleaner.

http://www.ccleaner.com/

CCleaner will delete stuff from your temp folder and other places and will free up a lot of space.

Mine does the same thing on Vista...to be honest, I have no idea...it goes up and down. Yesterday mine read as low as 13 gigs left, now it's up to 40.

Hard drives are odd, odd things.

Turn off Hibernation as well. As long as it's turned on, there will always be a file called "hiberfil.sys" on your C: drive. It takes up as much drive space as the amount of RAM in your system.

1. Right-click on the desktop and chose "Properties"
2. Click on the "Screen Saver" tab
3. Hit the "Power" button on the bottom
4. Chose the "Hibernation" tab and uncheck "Enable Hibernation"
5. Press "OK" and you're all done.

yeah also remember most of the famous or most destructive hacks have been through e-mail attachments after people download some thats how they got spread into their PC. The firewall would read HTTP port packet and say ohh its for e-mail nothing unusual there ill just send it to the appropriate IP since Im unblocked to let the e-mails through (but the worm(more efficient in way than a virus since they can inffect multiple PC automatically where as a virus may infect ur system only and from there on spread to others as u send them stuff as attachments.)may be hidden in an e-mail attachment requiring the user to download the attachment.) But yeah if it requires u to dl something ur antivirus should pick it up use avast tis free and it updates most of the time 2.

also defrag and dl ccleaner and check mark all those things on the first page

good idea do that too since XP tends to create file for system restore and sometimes the warm might be informed to store its self there unless u turn ur system restore off.

Go to your computer, right click your hard drive, go to properties. Then go to disk clean-up. When you are at disk clean up, go to one of the tabs up top and choose the 'Delete all but the most recent system restore point' option. It will free up alot of memory.

Check start-up processes. Launch Msconfig from the Start menu's Run dialog and click the Startup tab. Look up unfamiliar entries on a site like google.com to find out what they are and if you can safely disable them.

also check the number of ports u have open the more ports u have open the more stuff u are allowing to get passed through the firewall.
