Which card is better for the money?

8800 GT 512mb - $249.99 on newegg

OR

8600 GT 512mb - $149.99 after mail in rebate on newegg

Or is there another card that is worth getting? My budget is tight so I feel like I'm gonna have to go with the 8600GT.

The 8800GT is 167% the cost of the 8600GT, while the performance is an average of 190% of the 8600GT.

I think this decision is easy.

8600gt = waste of money.

8800gt = play ALMOST everything on high.

If you're low on cash just wait. You'll regret it if you don't.

Volatile, what game are you talking about here?

EDIT: By the way, check out the ATi HD 3850/3870. They are better than the 8600GT yet cheaper than the 8800GT. The 3870 is of similar performance as the 8800GT.

It's economically a better decision, as well as the fact that the 8600GT sucks.

I've decided to wait until the 9800 comes out then I will buy either the 8800GT or GTS when their prices are lowered. Thanks all.
