Commander getting Veteran AT badge

I DID do a search on the topic but found no posts concerning this.
I was commanding on a 64 player server on the Chinese seaside map (the one with the big reactor chimneys), and was in AT kit all throughout. We held the USMC forces back so they were mostly on the carrier. I used 99% of the artillary on the ship, killing a lot (understatment) of peeps. Right near the end of the round, when tickets were like 198 : 1 in our favor, I hit tab to see my normal FP view. Then the drumrolls came and the Veteran AT Badge came in. I was like "sweet!", but then I was like "what?", but then I was like "nice!"
All stat guides say 20 KILLS required with anti tank to get badge. All forums say no commander kills count as "kills" in his favor. It is also known that team score does not count towards badges, because it is not a kill score. So.

WTF?

kills do count towards your favor

Kills count in your favor and they do count for awards like that badge.

no man u got it aww wrong...ive been doing this for my silver badges...maby i shouldent tell,but commander points count as kills to a kit for some reason

no, weapons don't get kills counted in them, but vehicles, gun emplacements(stingers, mounted MGs), and kits do.

naw they say WITH knife or WITH C4, the kit ones say WHILE anti tank or whatever, theres ya difference, you can get the kit ones, and i think ground defence, but not knife and c4

Yeah, I got my Engineer Vet badge like that on Karkand. Wasn't planning on it either, and to prove it, (to myself,) I got over 20 kills the very next round to make up for it.

I don't suggest you do the Commander thing to earn the badges. Where's the fun in that?

alright sweet. no i wasn't planning on it, neither will i use this to get my badges. but IN THE PAST I worked really hard for these badges and now i'm like: "oh,...could have been a nooby easyer was of getting them..." LOL i only got 9 gold stars so far. i play for fun.

Thread can officially be closed now, as It is not a good thing to advertise.

people say you cant do it but i did, i didnt relise that you cant get badges or something while your commanding at least thats what i was told

beautiful pic btw. yeah something like expert engineer i'm going to resort to arty strikes unless i get better at aviator or helis cuz i hate shotguns. if you see my stats at xXIElangbamIXx you'll see y (i'm a sniper)

arty kills count towards your award with the exception of knife and explosive

for knife and explosive badge, you actually have to kill with knife/explosive

easy as hell tho (except expert knife.. haven't tried yet tho lol)

you can earn kit badges as commander. i got my basic engineer as commander on mashtuur from arty drops. i wasn't even trying for the badge. i just grabbed cmdr because no one else took it.

Same goes for the pistol badges, you have to kill with the pistol
