Pfft.

Just quietly wait behind the Engineers, while us grown-ups handle the explosives and clear you a path.
"no.. no touch.. bad infantry!.. you'll blow off your fingers playing with that C4!!"

Or, take your Queen of battle self behind some cover, while you call in the King of battle (Artillery) for support.

Or, wearing my M.I. hat..
"FOBbit eh?  yeah f***ing right.  You do realize that not only did I go outside the FOB, I generally didn't F***ing bother to wake up until I'd passed the FLOT (Forward Line of Troops)"

Nope, I've never been leg infantry.  Never got a pretty happy-badge for every 5 week school I attended.  Too busy with 6 month to 18 month courses, thanks.

Respect for Infantry and all they do.
Big old "Fuck Off!" to those infantry who think they're the only ones that get dirty, drop targets, and blow shit up.
Ermm...I was small demolitions and anti-tank.  0351.  I have played with plenty of explosives thank you.
I thought you were a pilot.

I wanna become an Engineer in the RAF, not sure what field or anything specific. It's still rough for me, probably will check it out in detail after University

tis awesome, you get to toy with the most incredible machinery you've ever seen, Imo being an engineer in the army is just about as fun as it gets if you like playing with awsm engines, armors. Tanks, planes, anything . Too bad that there's a shortage of engineers these days though =/ (atleast, in the dutch army.)

With the Engineers you can learn a trade as well. In the infantry theres no real need on civvy street for mortar operatives or marksman. Unless of course you join the Police force. I am a trained bricky, plumber. All free to me by the Army. Infrastructure is a very good course to get on in the Army.

That's why I want to go into the RAF after Uni. It's an experience you'll never forget and it's like the best thing to have on your CV

the sad truth.  They told me i qualified to be in Law Enforcement, Security or Custodial services when I got out of active duty.   Good thing I scored high enough on my ASVAB to reclass into Psychological Operations when i became a weekend warrior.  Something I could use in the career I want.   But, Ill always be a grunt.

Fair play to you mate. Not all infantrymen are the sharpest tools in the box though are they GS? No offence at all meant by that. At least you got a good score enough to not end up a security guard in some bread factory!

True, but there's something like an anti-military feeling around here. Most oftenly used argument here I hear is "I don't want to toy with machines of death / machines that kill people". I hate to hear it really, as if they pity army engineers ; that's what you get from too much anti-military propaganda. People forget our military isn't there to plainly kill people, but to remove those who do things which are unacceptable in modern day society. I'm going in the infantry though, but I'd love to see more engineers. Always like to hear them talk about their 'toys' .

The transistion was interesting.  From being a lowly grunt with a bunch of lowely grunts to becoming a PsyOp Specialist team leader and being around a lot of inexperienced soldiers.  Although, there are a lot of rocks in the infantry,  I would say that most were sponges (rock = dumb fuck, sponge = learn quick).  Now in PsyOp, I m around a bunch of sponges, but most of them are geeks.

Engineers dont only provide the means for the Army to move. They provide assistance to infrastructure to defeated nations as well. Water supply, electricity, rebuilding. Thats the most satisfying part for me I think. Knowing i am doing at leasst a little good in th circumstances.

Not just a little bit, engineers form the backbone of any army. No engineer, army can't move or do shit. The army just works like a big machine; each part of it connected crucially with bolts, screws, power supplies etc. If you miss one of these, it won't move. Especially the engineers are important in this machine. Don't have em? No use in having anything techy.
