Egypt is under enormous pressure - from Israel and much of the international community - to get a grip and reseal the border.
Are those living and leaving Gaza imprisoned or something?

Yes, by the Israelis. Are those living and leaving Gaza imprisoned or something?
All people living in Gaza are extremists?Shadowolf wrote:
Israel isn't forcing Egypt to control the border.
Egypt, just like Israel, doesn't like Islamic radicals and terrorist organizations.
Controlling the Egypt-Gaza border helps Egypt's security.
No, but keeping the border loose means that islamic radicals in Gaza could cross easily into Egypt and cause trouble over there.sergeriver wrote:

Yeah I can, but I can't go to certain hostile countries (not that I want to go there, anyway.)sergeriver wrote:

We have a peace-treaty with them.I don't think we actually like each other, but we share some common goals, like stopping Islamic radiclas from growing stronger.sergeriver wrote:
Since when are Israel and Egypt allies btw?
And that's fair to the 99% of innocent people how again?Shadowolf wrote:

I guess I would answer the same than you.Shadowolf wrote:

Don't think Egypt is on your side pal. They aren't.Shadowolf wrote:

They can't sustain themselves because there's an economic boycott and a blockade on them.jsnipy wrote:
Given long enough time without the essentials of life, anyone would become a radical.
If it is to be its own state eventually should it not be able to sustain itself?
I think this is a valid point. It is not fair to the 99% of innocent Gaza residents.sergeriver wrote:

That's the here and now. But if you rely on neighboring territories for your survival, then you should not fire rockets and mortars into it.sergeriver wrote:

and Isreal have said that once Hamas have stopped launching rockets at Isreal, the blockade will be liftedsergeriver wrote:

Seems fair to me, might motivate the average Joe in Gaza to do something about the terrorist element there.samfink wrote:

I don't justify the actions of Hamas, but they don't act over nothing.san4 wrote:

But don't blame Egypt (or Israel). It is unreasonable to ask Egypt and Israel to sacrifice their safety. Blame Hamas and the people who provide support and funds for it.
Israel is the same state that destroyed half of Lebanon and killed more than 1000 civilians over two kidnapped soldiers. Israel is punishing the wrong people. Extremists don't give a shit for others lives but neither does Israel.samfink wrote:

I thought they were usually the ones to start stuff off.sergeriver wrote:

Throwing rockets into a country is not a good thing at all, but making a prison of another isn't either.M.O.A.B wrote:

I didn't say you did. I meant that you should look to them for a solution. Hamas and the people who fund it are the ones causing Gaza's residents to suffer. They are the only ones who can be expected to stop it.sergeriver wrote:

Serge please just read the damn article rather than just linking it. It clearly states the EGYPT wants the border closed as they dont like Hamas coming into their country and causing political problems. Do you want egypt to turn into a war zone?sergeriver wrote:

Hey its a simple setup, if those living there help root out and stop the rockets being launched, they'll receive everything again. When people grow desperate, they will turn on anyone in order to stop that desperation.sergeriver wrote:

And they have no real reason to care either, it's doing good for their economy. The Egyptian shopkeepers must be loving the new market that they've been opened up toOn Saturday, the governor of the Egyptian border province of North Sinai said that Egypt would continue allowing Palestinians to come across the border, and that it would help them stock up on supplies.
He said the security forces had been instructed to facilitate the Palestinians' passage and that he was co-ordinating with ministers in Cairo to have fresh stocks of commodities sent to the border area..

I read the whole article and just quoted the part talking about closing the border again. What I meant is who decided that those people should be imprisoned? And why would Egypt turn into a war zone by letting people from Gaza buy goods?Vilham wrote:
