I noticed that when I leave my computer on while I'm in the area, it starts making noises like it's doing something after about 10 minutes of inactivity. When I move the mouse, it stops, and all I hear is the fans.

Any ideas?

..oh and also: I saw in the setup menu that there is an option to change the speed of the fans (or something).
As in: louder, but better performance, quieter, but lacking performance, or the standard setting. Would changing it to the louder/better option noticeably increase performance? It's currently at the standard/automatic setting.

It's trying to take over the world while you're away.

But turning up the fans wouldn't necessarily improve performance.. it'd just make it cooler

But if it's cooler, doesn't that mean it'd be faster, due to more fan power?

Oh and also...my Firefox fucked up.
I installed nCleaner and used it, and now all the pictures in websites have disappeared. IE still shows everything though.
Restarting the comp didn't help.

Edit:Nevermind. I ran CCleaner, and now it's back to normal.
CCleaner ftw.

I had that on my old comp...

What sounded like it worked was my GeForce 6800 Fan (At least i think so), because it was dusty or something...

You sure it wasn't just Windows trying to index your harddrive and performing other background tasks while you're afk? Because I can't think of many other things that make noises in your PC when you're inactive.. I turned Windows indexing off even (I'm on Vista) because it got annoying with my noisy Raptor drive and I don't need to search a lot anyway.
