Faster + More Bandwidth + More people connected to said higher speeds of internats

That's if Governments and companies invest in upgrading from copper shitty wires. Although i'm getting 650KB/s from my standard copper wire so it aint that bad. What's the limit for the standard phone wires anyway?

Depends on the quality of the copper and the signalling used. In lab situations, PSTN grade wiring can do gigabits per second. As far as technologies that can leverage existing local loops of average quality, you're probably looking at V(HS)DSL, of which the second specification delivers signalling exceeding 100Mbps in both directions up to ~250-300 metres, after which the signal quality, and therefore usable frequencies degrade, lowering the throughput as it happens.

This stuff isn't really deployed very widely yet. The biggest installations I've heard of was a Zyxel guy telling me about a project they had in Vietnam setting up V(HS)DSL DSLAMs in basements of highrise buildings and utillising the generally higher quality wiring in these to deliver reasonably high speeds.

Here in Belgium you can get VDSL, but it isn't really worth it.
€65/month for 17Mbps down and 400 Kbps up.
Pretty much what you get with ADSL2+ where available, and cheaper.
