Ok so once in a while I download some movies and put em on my ipod, now my xbox 360i connected to the hd tv and 5.1 surround system...
I would like to watch videos that are on my Ipod on the tv , if possible through the xbox 360...
The xbox detects the music on the Ipod aswell as the phots but not the video...
Should I convert the video to a certain format or get an update??
I'm quite clueless on this since I haven't really done something like this before....

Help and tips are appreciated

Well, iPod-size video (320x240) will look utter shit on the HDTV. Just use a computer and network to put it on the XBox hard drive.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

To watch a movie on the 360 it has to be in one of a select few (and uncommon) formats like WMV, MOV, MPEG-1, MPEG-2... try googling it for the full list

Would it work if I put the video in wmv format on the ipod and try to play it then or won't it make a difference?

xbox 360 can play xvid/divx and a few other formats now actually... do you even have an xbox? the only thing it is lacking now is the ability to use subtitle files.

I just use the windows media player file sharing thing and network from my laptop to my xbox so I don't have to copy or burn the files.

Yes I do. it doesn't play any common file types like AVI or high def files like MKV... so I have to spend 12 hours getting a high quality conversion into WMV
